It is wonderful how the "band geek" groups form such wonderful and tight bonds and lean on each other in times of pain and loss like this. One of my friends was in band all through college and she still gets together with band people from all over and to jam now and then. Jay – it is wonderful to see how kids come together for a common cause. It is sad that a tragedy lead them to do the car washes. I work with a community service club at Lake Travis High School and they hold a car wash each year. This year’s car wash raised money for the Red Cross to benefit Hurricand Ike victims. If I had photos to share, they would look like yours – cars lined up all day long. I hope the kids in your area do this again and that it won’t take such a loss to get them out there.

Jay –
I find it utterly and completely miraculous that at a time in our economy that things are not very bright, that friends, families, neighbors and complete strangers are all so willing to extend a hand of compassion. It must be by the grace of God that so many people are reaching out to Kelly’s family and friends. I am very thankful that you have chosen to share your feelings and experiences with the rest of us. While this has indeed been a difficult week for you, your daughter & family, I hope the dialogue here on TPRE has allowed you some refuge in knowing that you are not alone…nor will you ever be.
