American Idol Auditions in Phoenix

How’s this for a completely non-real estate related post?

American Idol is holding auditions in Phoenix for the first time ever.

I’ve already confessed to losing my Man Card for watching AI. I can’t help it. I don’t know what it is about that show that sucks you in and won’t let go.

All I can say is the contestants auditioning here are lucky I’ll be out of town on audition day. I can tell you one thing, if I were better looking, 20 years younger and could sing, I would be the next American Idol.

It might be worth a trip to Glendale just to witness the insanity.

Details for the Phoenix American Idol audition are:

WHO: Men and women 16-28 years old as of July 15, 2008, who are eligible to work in the U.S. Some restrictions apply.

WHERE:
Jobing.com Arena
9400 W. Maryland Ave.
Glendale, AZ 85305

WHEN: Friday, July 25

REGISTRATION DAYS: JULY 23-24, 2008

Front Of the Line: Gate 1

Parking: Free Parking. Follow all parking staff instructions. The parking staff will make sure they get into the appropriate lots. Do not park at the Renaissance Hotel, as you will be charged an hourly rate. American Idol is not responsible for any parking rates or rules.

For details, see the complete rules here (PDF file).

Some of the comments on another MTV article here indicate there are many Twilight fans who don't want Vanessa Hudgens to get the job. These fans might be misguided. Just be she starred in the High School Musical movies doesn't disney acting auditions mean she can't play any other character. She would also bring a lot of star power to the sequel. But it's still just a rumor and unclear whether Vanessa is really even auditioning.

I could never get into AI. I did start watching the next food network star. I really dont know why because I dont even like making food or anything.

The thing that sucks me into this kind of show is to watch the growth in the people. You see ordinary people with talent who develop into incredible people who are capable of being superstars. Some of them really disappoint - they appear to have so much potential, but they just don't change and get overtaken by the others. I always try and pick the winner from the list of finalists (just after the auditions) and I've never got one right yet!!

Plus, you get to see people being rude to them on TV!

So, do you know anyone that's going to audition?

I can only IMAGINE the circus that will be out at Jobing.com on Friday. Thankfully, I will be FAR, FAR away from that. While I like AI quite a bit, I hate the audition rounds where Simon tries to see what an awful human being he can be. I wait until they get to the Top 24 or so.

Sometimes I think Simon should look in the mirror. Ew.

Cool! I love American Idol! I wish Simon was not so nasty, but I love watching the talent - there are some really great contenders out there!

I watch AI from time to time, but not very often. There are a lot of talented people out there that deserve a break! And it is funny to watch the people that go there KNOWING FULL WELL that they are just too horrible to go on to the next level, I guess they just want their "15 minutes of fame" on television. Personally, I would not want to be one of those who go there KNOWING how awful they are, I don't like public humiliation!

If the whole family is watching "Idol" I may be convinced to sit and listen, but even then probably not. Same goes with dancing, talent, cooking, modeling, living, and surviving reality shows. I'm just not interested in it.

I am interested in the zoo, however, that will be at Jobing.com arena this Friday. Making plans right now to go check it out.

UK - I'll be at a real estate conference in San Francisco on audition day. And I'm just a wee bit too old anyway..

Kaitlyn - I like "AGT" too...

I don't watch American Idol. I've seen it once or twice and found Simon's obnoxious rude behavior a serious "turn off." I do like to watch "America's got talent" when I happen to be channel surfing and find it is on!

So Jay are you so sucked into AI that you're going there to audition?!

We had them here in Atlanta a year or so ago, and it was a mad house in the city. No one could get a hotel within a 50 mile radius of the city. I know what you mean about this show. We TIVO every show and end up rewinding some of the auditions because they are so funny.
