Thanks to all who participated in the random drawing for a copy of "The Dip" by Seth Godin.
Let is be known that some of you pleaded for certain numbers (it's a baseball thing) and some of you tried to enter twice (that didn't work the last time either, just ask Athol). There WAS a husband/wife team that each entered, and I have to call that fair play as each were entered separately. I also took the liberty of removing Pamela Slim from the drawing as I KNOW she has a copy — I watched Seth sign it (and he told her she was famous too). Read her blog.
I put all the names in a spreadsheet. Then I used the Excel formula "=RAND()*100" to generate a random number between 0 - 100 for each entry. As previously announced, this time around the LOWEST number gets the copy of The Dip…
Just to make sure I didn't get confused by the massive list of entries and random numbers, the formula "=min(A2:A18)" pulls the low number, and a formula of "=VLOOKUP(B20,A2:B18,2)" finds that low number and returns the winner's name.
What can I say, it's the old semiconductor engineer in me… though the old engineer simply got lucky as no provisions we made to have UNIQUE random numbers assigned (though if you manipulated the numbers to be unique, they really wouldn't be truly random now would they? Hmmm…)
Despite Derek's weird baseball numerology thing (he actually got close to what he wanted), and despite John Coley being entered twice due to an error the first time around, neither won the prize.
Hook 'em Lani! You just have to promise to share it, that's the deal…

1Oh, I got excited there for a sec when I saw 6 on the left hand column, but then….
I suppose I will consider purchasing it now.

2On sale at Amazon right now for $7.77. Or, go to Barnes & Noble, grab a cup of coffee and read it in the bookstore. It’s pretty short…
(Hey, if they are gonna sell coffee and put in comfy chairs, they have to expect people to hang out and read…)

3Hmmm…
Pretty blondes winning both times?
How many times did you have to push the button for the random number generator until they won?
Oh yes…
I’m on to you Jay, I’m on to you.
(no worries I got it on Amazon yesterday anyway)

5Found your blog from Christoph Schweiger’s site. The good things he said about you seem to be true. Too bad it was too late to win the book. But, I’m a brunette and I think Athol is on to something so I wouldn’t have won anyway.
But, I follow directions well - I read Pamela Slim’s blog. Now I am convinced I can’t wait…I’ll get it myself.
Enjoyning your content!

6Welcome April! Don’t listen to Athol, he’s clueless. (Kidding, you know I like you Athol!) I will freely admit I have a weakness for blondes (my lovely bride is one, both kids too. Now that I think about it, my ex was blonde — but I won’t hold that against the blondes of the world…).
Despite said weakness, the drawing was completely random, I promise.
Do stop by more often! We need more readers from the great state of Georgia. Do you have a blog?

7I heard that Jay…
April has two blogs
http://www.aprilgroves.com/makinglifeworkforyou/
http://www.aprilgroves.com/beautifulchaos/
She is in the process of switching one of them to a new host, so any graphic errors are likely temporary.

8Thanks Athol!
And a couple of great blogs they seem to be!
Just what I need, MORE to add to the feed reader. Not sure how I missed these before, but it goes to show there are always great “undiscovered” (to me at least) blogs out there.

9See, that’s why I have to look out for Athol - he is always looking out for me:)
“Process of switching” is like saying “process of giving birth” or “process of pulling nails out with pliers.” The truth of he the matter is I deep sixed the whole thing - both blogs on typepad and my Navica run website. Had them transfer my domain (www.aprilgroves.com)back to me, built a new site myself and moved the blogs to WordPress so they could live in the same house. So any errors are temporary and should be fixed as long as my coffee pot keeps brewing. However, if you come across any, please drop me a line and let me know.
And thanks for the invite to continue dropping by. I’ll take you up on it.

11You can’t win with the RSS feed thing I’ve found Jay. There’s always another great undiscovered blog lurking waiting to be found.
Pretty soon the feed reader is looking like Jabba the Hutt and controlling your life…

12Sorry so late… I’ve been in Sooner Town…
HEY THANKS!!!! I am so excited!!! I’ll probably read it outloud to my husband in the car (isn’t that where most Realtors LIVE?).
I have to admit there is nothing natural about my blonde, so thank God for my stylist!! This is just another one for “blondes have more fun”- guess I’m not dying this ‘do anytime soon!
Seriously, thanks- the love WILL be spread
