Technically of course, the State of Arizona did not change time zones and suddenly find itself in the Pacific time zone this morning.
It’s just that we stood still while everyone else “sprung forward” for Daylight Saving Time — which effectively makes our clocks go from matching those in say Denver to matching those in San Diego. We are still in the Mountain Standard Time zone, which now equates to Pacific Daylight Time.
We join Hawaii, and the US Territories of American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands in not observing Daylight Saving Time. Well, except for the fourth of the state that is the Navajo Nation. They do change clocks. But keep in mind that the Hopi Reservation, which is entirely surrounded by the Navajo Nation, does not change their clocks.
I’ve never really understood Daylight Saving Time. When I lived outside Arizona, I wondered why in the world we we did it. Now that I live inside Arizona, I wonder why we (well, most of us) don’t.

I would love to see us just do away with the whole day light savings thing all together. I think that it is a ploy and an ill fated attempt by the states to get everyone to subscribe to their ideas that it will help save on energy cost. Blah, Blah, Blah…
Yeah, I woke up later than I expected today. It’s nice to get back in the right frame of time.
Welcome to the club. There are millions of people all over the world, who wonder why this has to happen. On the other hand, there are countries fixed in a time zone, totally illogical, thanks to their colonial past. May be the UN should do some rationalizing of this in a sensible manner.
I live in Ireland and this far north the shift for daylight saving is almost essential.
In the winter we’d be spending most of our time in the dark if we didn’t shift the hour. There’s precious little daylight during the winter months already, makes sense to savor it.
Haha, yeah I know what you mean. Daylights saving time has been a mystery to me as well. The whole idea doesn’t seem ideal, at least not anymore, when we’ve adapted and still can adapt to night hours.
