   I completely agree. I could not imagine “forgetting” my children in the car. It’s absolutely ridiculous that people would use that as an excuse. As far as I’m concerned there are other reasons that child was left in the car. My opinion is that if someone says they “forgot” it’s because they were too bombed out of their gourde to realize what they were doing, which alone is pathetic enough to be driving around in that state of mind. But to subject a child to it as well is ridiculous.

   As horrible a tragedy this may be, the aunt has to live with this misfortunate event for the rest of her life. Day in, Day out!

   I have lived in Florida for most of my life, Phoenix for only 3. This kind of thing also happens there. And it mostly happens to family members of the child (aunt, grandparent, etc), or to a father who is only helping out for the day and agrees to take the child to daycare- a task they normally don’t do and the mother put the child in the car.

   So unless someone is left in the car intentionally, and how truly this event saddens ones heart, this person is already paying the price for their mistake. And I am sure jail time as well.

   I understand your point about the Aunt having to live with this for the rest of her life.

   But at least she gets to live. The baby’s life is over due to her *extreme* negligence.

   I’m certain this wasn’t an intentional act, but the fact is, the aunt accepted responsibility to take care of the child then forgot she was in the car, and didn’t even THINK about the baby for FIVE HOURS. It’s sickening,and I for one am GLAD she has to live with the thought of it forever. Her living with the thought of it is nothing compared to what baby Sara went through as she slowly cooked to death in that car.

   I don’t want to hear that crap. I’m sick of it. No, the BABY has to live with her mistake, and the parents of the baby have to live with her mistake. Only the baby can’t live with her mistake because the baby’s dead.

   No excuse. NONE. My child was the focus of my every day routine and existence. I’m telling all of you here reading this–it is not possible to “forget” your child unless something is very very wrong with you and I’m sick of reading excuses in articles like these–short term memory only goes so far, the parent was overly stressed about work, a different routine….

   BULL. These people didn’t forget their keys or their cell phones, did they? Their children simply weren’t their priority. It’s a most effective way to get rid of an unwanted child. Call it an accident and put on the performance of your life. You won’t be charged. It’s a “tragic accident.” THINK. This is deserving of a charge of child endangerment and negligent homicide in EVERY SINGLE CASE. I don’t give a damn. You don’t “forget” your child. You don’t deserve to be walking around free if you do. Case closed and that is all.
