American Way Market Cafe
So far we have covered three of my five favorite coffee houses in Chandler AZ. Now for a place that is not necessarily considered a coffee house, but it is the place I have spent the most time at over the last 6-months since I was introduced to it. And their coffee is solid. That is American Way Market Cafe‘ on Arizona, just south of Warner Rd.
American Way has a few very interesting things that make it special. The cafe’ is located inside American Way Market, a vintage antique store. Everything about this place says vintage too!
The Coca-Cola sign inside, the soda chest, the booths and all the furnishings were brought in from all over the West to help make this place a beautiful vintage reminder of the way things used to be.
Another unique thing is the soda. If there is a vintage soda, you can probably find it here. They have eight ginger ale’s alone, and there are no Canada Dry’s on this soda list.
The food here is amazing. Looking at the list, you would probably not be blown away. The thing that makes American Way fantastic is not their menu, but the quality of the food on their menu. The bread’s here are the best of the best. Jared Allan, Proof Bread, handmakes all the bread and pastries. My favorite lunch here is the soups. The smoked tri-tip chili is fantastic but even better is the cheddar ale soup.
I am not much of a sweets person, but those who I have been there with all rave about the blondie brownie. One day the owner, Mike, stopped by and said hi to me and brought over a small sample. I split the small sample with a friend I was having lunch with. I only had one small tiny piece, but it was fantastic.
I have spent several mornings here working on their wifi at an old-fashion table while drinking a coffee. If you like different, you are going to love this place. It has a lot of character for a small place.
