Blog Wars and Other Such Nonsense.

There is a lot of “wrong” on the Internet. There is a lot of “right” too.

My pledge: From this day forward, focus on the right, leave the wrong alone. The wrong just sucks away too much energy. It’s not worth it.

We always appreciate your comments! Phoenix Real Estate Guy uses two commenting systems, Facebook and LiveFyre. LiveFyre is the most robust system (and easy to use!). It allows you to login with Twitter, Facebook, Google+ LinkedIn, OpenId, LiveFyre and as a "Guest". I recommend getting a LiveFyre account, it has some great features (just click the LiveFyre button when you write your comment).

BLOG COMMENT POLICY: We respectfully ask that you use your real name (first name only is fine) and not use keywords (Why no keywords?). The only real "comment rules" are be civil -- no personal attacks -- and no advertising. (See the full comment policy here). Opinion and debate are welcome, but attack the idea, not the person.

Lovely cartoon – gave me my morning smile. Good for you for taking the high road. Blog wars don’t let anyone win.

I've been noticing some of the "blog wars"...what a waste of time. When do some of these people actually have time to be productive! You will be a better man for focusing on the positive, Jay.

Well, I read your post and thought it was cool -- then totally didn't get it and did the opposite of what it said. I was still in there mucking around well into this morning.

I always scored better on writing than on reading comprehension. :)

Oh Jay, you are SO right. I'ts really easy to get caught up in trying to counter the wrong and in the end, we just end up wasting our time & energy most times. It's difficult to keep that mindset all the time, but just working on what we can control and what we can do right is really where the fruit is. Great post.

Jay, you nailed it.

Moreover: "Hatred can never be cured by hatred. It can only be cured by love." So by focusing on the positive you are a Bodhisatva. Bet you didn't even know it! :)

I believe there is far more 'right' on the internet. Sometime the 'wrong' just types louder.

Wishing I was in Phoenix selling homes with you right now, it has been so cold in Chicago lately! At least you always have the weather going for you! :)

One thing is for sure. Blog wars, whatever form, eat up precious and productive time. They are simply not worth losing that.

Word!

I like that cartoon. I think it is very accurate. keep up the great work.

Jay-

Well said...I had a conversation with a REALTOR about that this morning. Focus must be on building and not tearing down.

Thanks much for being some bandwidth worth reading. Regularly.

I just subscribed.

Your the man... I'm with you.

@Sarah - Thanks for stopping by and commenting! *Love* your blog. Good luck with Pop Snap. I'll be watching!

It is difficult to ignore, but it must be done.

@Kerion - Interesting idea. Personal attacks is really my only shun. Attack the idea or concept at full bore, I'm OK with that. Personal attacks? Stupid and pointless.

@Steve - agreed, One must watch out for wrong factual info.

@EVERYONE - *thanks* to all for all the support in this latest round of "Real Estate Blog Wars"...

Be strong.

Hey! The wrong isn't worth it. I have had so many time walking away from these wrong fight conversations that people pick. I got to stop that. Some people are just negative all around and it's hard not to fight with them. That's when you have to just ignore them. They like it when you fight with them. :) Thanks for reading my blog!

Jay,

It would be good if you could keep a regular list of things you're shunning and things you're keeping in touch with? Might guide others?

Jay,

Eschewing the negative is key; being vigilant for wrong factual information is practically necessary for any company-or presence-on the web.

I had an experience where we received an excellent endorsement for our new products from a leading blog, and within two hours of the posting wrong information appeared about how our products could not be used and utilized at the same blog the endorsement came from.

The wrong information came from commentors.

The information they sought is freely available on the web.

I was able - and had to- step in with the right information.

There is a difference; it is hard to know what to do sometimes.

BLog on,

Steve

LOL on the comic. And not a bad policy...

Yes I agree. I stumbled on a negative post about how you can't trust your real estate agent today and it ate at me long enough to waste a few hours of time that could have been spent doing something productive!

Jay,

I've learned a lot from quietly watching the war unfold. The battles, the he-says, she-says. The *meaning* where there is no meaning. The hurts, the pains. Wow. All that drama.

It all made me realize why I blog. I blog for the consumer, to increase my business and in the process meet some wonderful industry colleagues in the process. The blog wars showed me, very clearly, how easy it is to lose sight of this fundamental goal.

I applaud you for the integrity and character you have displayed in the process and also in moving forward with the positives!

Onwards and upwards!!!! Now lets sell some houses and get some loans!

AMEN to that! Good thought ... use the Law Of Attraction and banish the negative ... write positive, think positive, act positive ... like will attract like ... positive is so much more becoming ... feels better, that's for sure!

I am sure everything will go right for you today!

I was in Columbus, OH, last year to spend a few days with my son when he had four wisdom teeth extracted. I drove him home after oral surgery and he was still feeling the effects of anesthesia and we took a couple of extra turns ... he was confused and embarrassed that we were going the "wrong way" on the freeway.

I told him there is no "wrong way" in direction ... it was just an alternate route that took us to the same destination. Just like life. Sometimes we make decisions or judgments that are ill advised ... they are not "wrong turns," just different ways of getting places we need to be.

Bravo.

My wife's masters thesis had *something* to do with the book "All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten". One of the basic tenants of that book is simply do unto others. Simple in theory, sometimes difficult to implement, but always worth it.

You'll be rewarded for this strategy.
