Dustin is under the delusion that LA is “The Valley”. Now I like Dustin. A lot. But we all know that the Phoenix metro area is the real Valley.
Anywho, Dustin has a nifty little post up touting some LA coffee shops with free wifi access. I thought I’d shamelessly steal his idea (not the first time that has happened. Won’t be the last either) and do the same for our little corner of the Valley of the Sun.
Here are some East Valley coffee-ish local’s with free wifi access. If you know of more, please chime in!

I’m new to the Valley (only 1 year here), but really would like to find some good coffee shops with free wifi in North Phoenix or North Scottsdale. I really haven’t researched this subject, but those shops that I’ve been too, you have to pay for the internet… Desert Ridge free wifi sucks… can’t even get on.
Max – maybe some of these?
Thanks Jay! I’ll take a look at those reviews. I liked a coffee shop in the Biltmore mall by the Apple store… I didn’t have a chance to use my laptop, but 90% of people there were with laptops, so I guess it’s a good spot. I wonder if it’s free though.
I think the Apple store has free wifi. So if the Biltmore place is close enough, you should be able to pick that one up.
I don’t venture into that part of town very often, so I’m not much help…
Talking about the Biltmore… The Coffee Plantation has free wifi and can confirm that for their Mill Avenue location in Tempe as well.
You should check out PC World’s wifi finder at:
http://pcworld.jiwire.com/search-hotspot-locations.htm
Plug in any address (including many worldwide locations), and find all the wifi options that are nearby. When I checked my address, I discovered the coffee shops that I expected, but also discover that there is free wifi near my home at a Krispy Kreme and the library down the street. I should have thought of the library before, but never had.
I think this would really come in handy if you were on vacation or travelling for work with your laptop.
Might want to check out http://www.jiwire.com for a comprehensive list of hotspots (both paid and free).
