Tracy – I think the problem is, Facebook knows about goo.gl (and bit.ly and other "commercial" URL shortners). They have no way of knowing that a customer shortner like this post refers to is shortened. But to be honest, I never tried it on FB and FB has a pretty large limit on character length.

But how do you use the shortened URL in Facebook? When I shortened my WordPress blogpost URL to a goo.gl short link, and then pasted it into the Attach link on Facebook, the short link wasn't visible when I went to Share. Facebook went and scraped the long, full URL of the post. How do you get the short link to appear and be the thing that users click on?

Bill – I don't think it has any SEO value. It *might* have some branding value. It's not all about SEO.

I didn't know google offer such a thing, I always used tinyurl… google will rule the net some day, all they need to do is to buy facebook.
