Jennifer Kirby in Minneapolis had a post that caught my eye yesterday titled, "Should You Disclose Something That Hasn't Happened?".
Seems there was a post on ActiveRain where the discussion was centering around whether agents should disclose that "abrupt climate change due to global warming" could cause home valuations to decline in costal areas.
Well, the thought of having to disclose some future event that scientific opinion is divided on whether it will even happen seems just a bit silly to me.
So naturally I ventured over to the ActiveRain post to see what the consensus was.
And for the life of me, I can't figure out how I got sucked into a comment "discussion" with some attorney and his wife. Particularly the wife….
Sheese… some might find it entertaining Friday night reading.
And thanks to those AR members who sent support off-line.

Jay - you played pretty well. It is unfortunate that those of us that use the ‘net for networking and researching have to be subjected to threats and volatile discussions. What started out as an opinion for many of us escalated way beyond control. It seems the husband and wife, both in this case attorneys, are looking to glean comments from the public to promote their class action lawsuits. Anyone who innocently steps in their path is threatened with statutes and laws. Unbelievable. Watching from the outside today I enjoyed some of the quick retorts.
I ask you back…how do we get sucked into things like this?
Peace!
and ps…G forbid they find this one!

No recent entries on either blog. Do you think there is a strategy being discussed? What do we say next? LOL enjoy your weekend!

Hi Jay, I have to give you props on how well you did over there. Great job! I’m with Mary, I hope they don’t end up over here. Have a great weekend!

I’ll go take a look in a bit … I can’t believe I’m actually going back there to visit.
One thought though … shouldn’t we in Arizona have to disclose the area’s proclivity as a meteor magnet? One hit a few thousand years back and you never know when it might happen again.
Or that Sunset Crater is technically considered dormant and not extinct (I could be mistaken but this is stuck in my head.) Just ask the old HoHoKams (not the ones running concessions in Mesa) how that worked out for them.

LOL, That thread reminded me of the year I spent living in California.
Good times!

Looks like the blog owner deleted many of the comments. Probably for the best. But I do miss the one from the lawyers wife (who is also an attorney) that said I was “disgruntled and envious that I was not an attorney.”
Yeah, whatever.
And if they end up over here, no worries. It’s quite easy to banish them to the spam folder.

What do you call 5000 dead lawyers at the bottom of the ocean?
A good start.
I wish these blog “owners” didn’t find it necessary to censor comments to protect readers in the name of civility. And what a stupid premise to begin a post.
As to the attorney who is drumming up a class action suit on behalf of subprime borrowers who are potential victims of global warming, has he disclosed to his victims that he recently lost his mind?

You can’t make stuff this stupid up. Thanks for my laugh of the day.

I think thats like the 17th time I said to myself “Active Rain just jumped the shark”…

Sounds like I missed all the good stuff. Maybe if we plan it right, we can buy up all the future waterfront property for our future family members. Where should we buy first?

Interesting about the class action potential in the comment. I never can understand how people can only want to discuss something with people who agree with them. Why discuss it at all then, just buy one of those dolls with heads on a spring and talk to it.
As for the comment deleting well, I have to say I see a lot more of that out in the real world of blogging. It all surprises me though.
Jay you handled yourself very well on thi!

I missed the fun as well. Too bad. I really had thought I was the only person on the planet who does NOT believe 100% in glabal warming. There are scientists on the other side that can discredit the human impact on the environment. What were the stats on the amount of harm done to the ozone by cows? It far exceeded the automobile impact. If cows are the problem and that is the premise one operates with then India will be the bad country in the world for destroying the ozone. I’m not a scientist, but global warming seems to be a “created emergency” for political gain.

Global warming? The same two goofs, ’scientists’ no less, who’re leading the charge global warming, (and that we’re responsible) are the same two geniuses who wrote the best seller 30 years ago - here it comes - about…….The Coming Ice Age.
At least Carlos Mencia is funny on purpose.

I’m jumping in late here. Two things:
1. The attorney have probably already been distracted by a passing ambulance.
2. My patience with my participation in AR is beginning to wear thin.

Jay, good for you to stand up in that comment exchange. There are a few who take things too far - I’ve posted on this in my blog too. Let’s not dump on AR because of a couple of “unusual people”, though. I’ve made some great connections there and think it’s a great thing for the industry. Keep up the good work!
