I like how other users can flag other commentors, it kind of helps to keep the spammers posting viagra comments at bay

No idea “SEO”. They may be getting caught in a spam filter. With a commenting name like “SEO Miami”, your comments may be considered spammy and get flagged. I've got several different filters in place here, and since I get hundreds of spam comments a day, I don't have time to go in and pull things out if they are flagged incorrectly.

And as an SEO expert, surely you can tell that these comment links are no-followed, so it's not like you get “credit” for using keywords in your comment name. You might try using your real name and see if that doesn't get you past the spam filters.
