There’s been some buzz across the real estate blogs this week after a Florida agent was “fired” by his broker for posting a video on his blog that contained still shots of bikini clad women, with a minimal amount of real estate thrown in.
Debates ensued about whether or not the broker was within their right to release the agent (clearly they were), freedom of speech, stubbornness of the agent (and broker) and so forth (see sellsius and FoREM for example – the best part is in the comments). The news even made it across the pond to Renthusiast.
I suppose sex sells real estate — it seems to sell everything else. It doesn’t fit into my marketing (those that have seen me in person will understand why) but I can see it being used in certain markets and I have to give kudos to Shaun for thinking outside the box.
Personally, I think Rachel Natalie Klein, a video blogger from New York City’s IntoTheBox.tv, sums up the whole sex and real estate rather well in this week’s pick for Phoenix Real Estate Guy’s “Video of the Week”.

It would appear that my connection is too slow for that video and I could not view it
But yes sex sells everything, ask any advertiser and they will tell you how it can be used to sell anything, even something as unconnected to sex as real estate.

I would say that there was plenty of “real estate” displayed in the video. But, will it do more than drive traffic? That is the big question.

I saw the original video. I dont quite get it. I guess they will get some traffic. I guess their are some speech issues with the broker firing them. But at the same time the broker probably saw this as a huge liability.

Very nice post. I do video marketing, and mostly on YouTube. Videos just help presell the audience better. Then Tube Automator lands my videos front page of youtube. YouTube videos usually are the first few results on Google, so it makes it easy to get traffic for hard to rank keywords.
