I've been called maybe 5 times in my life and have never sat on a jury. If I could plan a vacation and not lose business I wouldn't mind, but having a life and a business makes jury duty really difficult. Had the full experience in Phoenix a few years ago - as you said, was interesting, but not looking forward to another. For some reason, every government institution is the worst place to be - it's absolute torture (as you pointed out) and it never takes less than what seems like a lifetime to do what you went there to do.
