Excuse the dumb question, but What constitutes an electronic signature? Is this actually some crypto key-based system or something else?

Man, I wish we could complain about the same thing here (Curacao, Caribbean). Electronic signatures are in no way mentioned in any law here yet We even still have people complaining about the lawfulness of electronic archiving. Go figure…

Ridiculous but true. I’ve resisted using electronic signatures myself because I can only imagine the resistance I’ll get from other agents in my area (Massachusetts).. We still use faxes (LOL) and when I have to tell a client or agent I am emailing the paperwork (pdf) they look at me in the same way “Conrelius” looked at “Taylor” when they first met in “Planet of the Apes”…

On a lighter note, I AM considering myself either Docusign or Echosign. If anyone has any ideas I’d appreciate them

You would think the seller’s agent would advise them of the negotiating tactics for this market. Negotiating small stuff often leads to loosing the big stuff, such as the sale of the house, especially when the buyers are in the drivers seat.

WTF? is right – 1 day? demanding live signatures? simply amazing ……

Awesome post! I use EchoSign in my law practice. It works like a charm every time, and the documents are crisp and easy to read. The coolest feature is that all parties automatically get a final version of the document emailed to them, after all signatures are in place.

Although some people still ask that I fax things for them to sign on paper. I just don’t get it.

This is great, its amazing to see how things keep coming along. Our job as a Realtor has really become easy as far as getting paperwork done and signed.
