You mentioned in your issues on your website that you recognize Gilbert is becoming a training ground for officers of other municipalities…If there is a cutback in the public saftey bugdet won't this waist more of the tax payers money and make the problem even worse? Can you be more specific on "As an elected official I will ensure our tax dollars are spent responsibly and used to protect your right to personal safety."

Jay, How cool that you open up for this sort of forum for all the candidates. What a shame more don't take you up on your offer (they just don't get it). I love the fact that one of my school mates is running for Gilbert Town Council. I was quite surprised to see his face in my Reader this morning. Jay, as you may well know, I am NOT a Republican nor am I eligible to vote in Gilbert, Az. But, his guy Erin seems to at least have a platform that can have an effect on (good or bad) on the council.

I do disagree with you about the pay. $22,000 for a part time job is not bad. The average real estate agent makes $40,000 before his deductions for mandatory license and association fees along with the various MLS that they pay out of pocket. And, let's not forget the advertising (internet and print) or the automobile allowance. My town appears to be in equal size and we pay each council member $12,000.

After looking at the net income on my tax return for 2008 and my current property taxes, I'm thinking of running.
