Fundraising Events for Kelly Tracy Family

Anyone that’s read this blog over the past week knows the tragedy that befell Kelly Tracy and her family last Saturday. Kelly, a 16 year old sophomore in the Highland High School Marching Band, was killed by a drunk driver on the way to join her band mates for an appearance in the Gilbert Days Parade.

If you don’t have a kid in a band, you may not realize just how much of a family our little “band geeks” become. They are all very close, and even the students at competing high schools have been impacted by the death of Kelly.

All of the Gilbert, AZ High School band programs, and even the Cactus Shadows High School Band in Cave Creek are holding car washes this weekend to raise money for the Kelly Tracy Memorial Fund to help the Tracy’s with funeral expenses.

On Saturday, November 22:

Highland High School is holding a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the school, 4301 E. Guadalupe Road, Gilbert.

Mesquite High School’s car wash will be from 8 a.m. to noon at the Sonic restaurant on the northeast corner of Val Vista and Williams Field roads in Gilbert.

Gilbert High School is holding a car wash from 9 a.m. to noon at the 24 Hour Fitness at Val Vista and Elliot roads in Gilbert.

Desert Ridge High School’s car wash will be from 9 a.m. to noon at Valero gas station on the southwest corner of Guadalupe and Ellsworth roads in Mesa.

Cactus Shadows High School will hold a car wash on both Saturday Nov 22 and Sunday Nov 23 from 10:00am – 2:00pm at the Taco Bell at Cave Creek and Tatum.

Gilbert Days Rodeo – Saturday, November 22

Highland High School Band will have a booth at the rodeo and will be accepting donations for memorial patches and stickers. Kids wearing a Highland Band shirt get in freewith a Highland HS ID get in free. I’ve also heard that the rodeo will be donating a portion of the parking fees collected to the Kelly Tracy Memorial Fund — THANK YOU!

On Tuesday, November 25:

Serrano’s Mexican Restaurant at 959 N. Val Vista Drive in Gilbert will donate a percentage of their sales made from 4:00 – 9:00pm to the Memorial Fund. I highly recommend the chicken enchiladas!

More info on the Kelly Tracy Memorial Fund:

Donations may also be made at any Washington Mutual (WaMu) bank. You can find the nearest one here (please note, some press reports have incorrectly stated that an account was set up at Chase Bank. WaMu and Chase have merged, but the ONLY account we can use for the Memorial fund is at Washington Mutual).

The account name is “Benefit of Kelly Tracy Memorial Fund

You can also donate on-line to the Kelly Tracy Memorial Fund. Just click on the DONATE button below or at the top right of this page and you can contribute via PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. (You do not need a PayPal account).

This on-line donation is completely secure and no one (including PayPal) sees any of your personal financial information.

Dear Kelly Family,Your tragedy is heart wrenching for everyone who reads it. A Fundraising Effort that I'll tell you of now, could easily be added to all your events. The Visa Corporation is using the power of it's Customer Loyalty Programs to leverage an amazing fundraising opportunity for just about any Cause. It works like this: Visa will provide you with Certificates that you'll sell for $100 ea. In return, the donor gets BACK Visa Gift cards totaling $500 in Groceries or Gas. The program works because of the POOLED customer loyalty points throughout the Visa affiliate system; ie. all the major merchants in the Country. They provide you a method of raising funds while returning to the supporter a 380% return for their generous donation. You must see the information:http://easyfundraising.creativelifestylereviews...........

It doesn't seem fair when people die so young. What a bright light she was; I am glad her family and friends have so much love pouring in right now. I am so sad for your loss.

Another sad, sad example of an innocent life taken in their youth

For another idea for the family to consider is a simple to manage, and profitable fundraising campaign, such as Fundraising Discount Cards.

In a nutshell, you buy plastic credit card type cards, which could have your fundraising logo (or photo) on the front & approx 12 to 20 local merchants offering discounts on the back (I expect there would be a lot of support from your local merchants for this), you sell these at a profit (obviously), but also the person buying the card actually has more than the value of the card in discounts - win/win.

Example: you buy card for $2, sell card for $10, & person buying has in excess of $10 worth of discounts.

Some of the better companies offer to get the merchants for you (saves the headache of doing it yourself) & some don’t even ask for payment until 2 weeks later, so you could effectively pay for the cards out of the profit you’ve already made - http://locatereviews.com/852550389

It's a sad event. We have a child in high school marching band and those kids form an incredible bond together. Prayers for the family.

Jay:

My tears and heart, and prayers go out to the Tracy family and everyone at HHS. Your video shows us what a lovely, caring young woman she was. What a tragic loss for all those that she touched, and would have touched in the future. Thanks for posting it.

Jay - It was a sad day this past week for all of the students, friends, teachers and especially the family of Kelly Tracy. My daughter isn't in the band at HHS, however a senior at HHS. I'm so impressed with the local support and kindness that has been shown to this family at such a difficult time. The community has certainly embraced them and hopefully this will help the Tracy family through their grief. It is just a senseless horrible loss and no family should incur such a thing. GBU for sharing and helping those heal through giving and sharing this post! May the Tracy family be comforted and enjoy Kelly's memories forever! -- Gilbert Mother of a Teenage Daughter!

**Candace Robinson´s last blog post..How Do I Know If I’m Ready To Buy A Home?

As a parent - it's impossible to read this blog in the last week or watch this video without a flood of grief, anger, and tears. I am so, so sorry. My thoughts and love go out to Kelly's family.

Jay nicely done. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Tracy Family.

Oh to have my individuals in the world that care about others the way you do.

thanks again for the reminder that life is precious.
