Greatest real estate agent in the world

Greatest real estate agent in the world

I have a feeling you’re going to be seeing a few posts making this claim in the not-so-distant future.

REW is having an “SEO contest” (SEO = Search Engine Optimization). The winner is declared by whoever ranks highest for the search term: greatest real estate agent in the world.

Update: Actually, the original idea for the contest was Eric Bramlett’s. Eric is an agent in Austin, TX. He discussed the idea with Morgan Carey at REW.

Morgan Carey (head dude at REW) is ponying up a very cool prize – a free REW web site with lifetime IDX and hosting.

I’m plenty pleased with my current provider, Point2, and can’t imagine switching over hundreds of pages to another provider (yes, I’m basically trapped like a rat. But they are good people up in Saskatoon). So I’m not even entering the contest. (Though REW does indeed have a fabulous product.) Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’ll check the SERPs out of curiosity. It’ll be interesting to see where this post places.

Why not enter just for kicks?

Simple. I already know who the greatest real estate agent in the world is….

It’s Francy Thompson.

And no, the fact that it is the day before Valentine’s Day has nothing to do with me proclaiming this. One can not “suck up” to Francy. Trust me, I’ve tried.

As I said on this blog’s “About” page long ago, “She’s the best real estate agent in the known Universe.” Obviously that makes her the greatest real estate agent in the world as well.

Disclaimer: I reserve the right to change my mind and add the required missing item at a later date to make this post eligible for the contest. Maybe, just maybe I’ll make a stab and should I prevail, I’ll transfer the prize to some lucky Phoenix Real Estate Guy reader. Then they can become the second greatest real estate agent in the world. Ok, third…

  • You may already have a website you like, but you could start another one for a niche market or give it away.

As you probably know it's not really about the website, it started out as an idea by Eric Bramlett for a fun, SEO learning experience and Morgan threw in the website to add a little more excitement to it.
  • Yeah Dennis, I mentioned giving the prize away. I've got no problem with the contest. Problem is, I've got no time.

I really don't "apply SEO" to this blog, it pretty much SEO's itself. I'm conscious of very low-level SEO tactics when I post -- titles, key words, etc. But I really don't think about them much. I prefer to write for the readers as opposed to the search engines.

And I just don't really have the time or inclination to try to drive one post toward the top of the SERPS. I think my energy is better served just plodding along on my own stuff.

Good luck with your Squidoo Lens! I gave ya five stars.
  • Jay, I appreciate the stars, thanks.

Even though I am giving somewhat of a shot at it, I also know there are others with much more time to spend on this contest than I do.

I am like you, busy selling real estate. In fact I am always telling my wife there just are not enough hours in the day to get all my work done.

I hope things are going well for you in Phoenix.
  • Like you Jay, I have a low level understanding of SEO, but I'll be watching the contest. Haven't stopped by here in awhile, you've done great things with your blog!

Stop by the tub and say hi once in a while will you?
  • Brett! Long time no "see".

Did I say I have a low level understanding of SEO? I think my understanding is pretty good. ;) I just don't really have the time to focus on getting ranked for a search term that won't benefit me (other than a cool prize. But commission checks are cooler prizes).

"Stop by the tub and say hi once in a while will you?"

I *really* need to do just that. It's been FAR too long!
  • Are you sure there aren't any other real estate agents in other parts of the universe??? :-)

I agree Francy is a great real estate agent. Smart, knowledgeable and most important (in my mind) customer-centric!
  • Shailesh - there could well be real estate agents elsewhere in the universe. But I'd hold Francy up against them.
  • Allow me to correct the record. I would characterize your SEO LEVEL as ROBUST. I guess that leaves me slightly less ROBUST. LOL
  • Hey Jay,
Good to see you participating... at least tentatively.

It's going to be interesting to see what kind of tactics people bring out.

I've started seeing alot of people use keywords in the name field of the comment section.... and ironically, I've tried to be more careful since getting an earful from Ardell. lol
  • Jay - glad to see you got the message re: Greatest Real Estate Agent in the World Contest. Like you, I'm far too busy to devote any more than the 5 minutes or so I did writing the original blog post.

Thanks for the B-day wishes a while back -Stay well, and say hi to Francy for me ...

    Jim
  • Gack - how does this whole contest keep getting pinned on me :) - REW is not having a contest, It was all Eric B, the only thing REW did was announce it as I have a much louder mike than Eric (And yeah, I did kick in a prize)

Of note: Jay, are you still with Point2 as this posts states? Your site seems to be completely wordpress.
  • Yeah, I figured that out shortly after I wrote this Morgan and never went back to update it. I've added a little note to the post.

Yes, our "main" site, ThompsonsRealty.com is a Point2 site. This blog of course is all Wordpress. It was started well before P2 offered a blogging platform, so it remains standalone. (We also now get almost three times more traffic here than the main site. So I guess I should stop calling TR.com the main site....)
  • The contest has been a pretty interesting experience and it will be fun to see the outcome. I cannot believe the buzz it has received around the web. It is great to see that everyone is too busy selling Real Estate - if I only watched the news - I wouldn't get out of bed in the morning. :)
  • I'm too busy following all you 'big' guys and writing/doing numbers for my site (only 4 mos old) but can't wait to hear about the winner and how they got there.
  • The search results just had a major shuffle, and you are now at #4.
  • You just keep on rockin it. Were all here supporting the contest.
  • Bpo
    Well looks like someone won.
  • Between bouts of depression stemming from all the horrific economic news, the challenges of this real estate market, and trying to make my understanding of SEO more "robust", who has the energy to chase the big prize? I honestly wish I did but with a 10 week-old LEC, I feel like I just gave birth. So go for it, Jay! Should be a cinch now! lol
