I Don’t Like TV Cameras…

.

The local NBC news affiliate (Channel 12 KPNX TV) picked up our post here about copper thefts in Wittmann and asked if they could film the damage and talk to me for a spot to be aired today at 5:00.

The reporter, Melissa Gonzalo, and her cameraman Rick were both super nice people and great fun to work with. But when they stick that big video camera a foot from your face, it's a little intimidating. Hopefully Rick is a Super Editor and can make me sound like I at least have a clue. We'll see…

Melissa has interviewed Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Angelina Jolie, Will Ferrell, Hugh Grant, Renee Zellwegger, John Travolta and Antonio Banderas.

And now Jay Thompson and a couple of local builders.

I'm sure she'll put that on her resume…

UPDATE: Here's the link to the news segment. I can't figure out how to embed it here.

The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades.. <gag>

"Hmmm…. what is next?"

World domination? :)

WOW - Now, I can say I know a real celebrity! Congrats on the coverage! Hmmm.... what is next?

Go get 'em superstar!!

Sure, it's tooting my own horn. This is somewhat of a marketing platform after all (though that is certainly not it's primary purpose).

I also posted it for a couple of other reasons as well. 1) it's likely not many people saw a two minute segment on the 5:00 news, and it tied in nicely and added to the story posted previously here on what is becoming a real problem; and 2) I think it's very interesting that the Mainstream Media -- many of whom denounce bloggers -- are looking to blogs, and finding news and ideas for stories.

Well since you are tooting your own horn, I have been on the news quiet a few times, and I didn't even have to write an article before they put my pretty face on television!!!!

Then again, I am usually on near the end of the news when everyone else has already turned the channel - on the sports section! Gotta perfect that swing for the camera baby!

The fringe benefits of being a blog celebrity. Way to go Jay.

Jay,

Great appearance.

Shailesh

Bravo! If you're on TV, the Republic might even find out about you!

Well there ya' go again Jay... good job on getting the article Amigo.
