I got a job as a Social Media MGPE!

Finally the job offer I’ve been waiting for has come through!

Earlier this morning I was offered a position as a “Social Media MGPE” (Manager/Guru/Prognosticator/Evangelist) for a major player in the real estate industry.

I’m just following the path blazed before me by such notable real estate bloggers as:

How cool is that? Finally, after delivering countless seminars and presentations on the use of Social Media in Real Estate, for which I was never paid a plug nickel, I’m going to make ridiculous amounts of money doing what I love – teaching others how to incorporate social media into their business.

I can’t disclose who I’ll be working for, or how much I’ll be making – other than to say “They are huge” and “it’s a boatload”.

Perhaps by next April Fool’s Day the details can be released.

Nota bene:  In all seriousness, while I personally know all of the above listed folks, and they are super smart people and wonderful human beings, what the hell am I, chopped liver? If someone really is looking for a SM MGPE, freaking call me and let’s talk!

Since Tyler already posted, I feel like this comment will work…

The problem, Jay, is you aren’t a big enough douchebag to be hired as a social media douchebag. Solve the first problem and the second will happen naturally. Also, be willing to move. ;)

Ah, had me worried that the boss man was heading to another employer! Had me worried when I saw the mention come through when I was writing my latest blog post on the City of Scottsdale subsidizing homeowners for the purchase of foreclosed properties above $1.5M.

I was pleasantly surprised (to your dissatisfaction) that you will be hanging around after all.

I completely believed this at first. Just like everything. I just need to learn not to read blogs or the internet news on April 1st.

I really must be getting smarter in my old age! I totally knew this was BS from the second I read it. I’m usually much more gullible. Thanks for making me feel better about myself Jay, even if you didn’t land your dream job! ;-)

You had me going good until I got to the part about the April fools day thing. I almost fell for another one today on the local newscast when they said a blizzard was on its way!

You had me for a split second too, that other half of the split second went to my son who explained that the reason he and his girlfriend broke up several weeks ago is that she was pregnant. He said I handled his prank very well and complimented me on my composure. I nearly threw up after the fact.

That’s too funny. In all seriousness, Keith is wrong. I have been called a douchebag by some of the slickest people I know and it hasn’t helped my wallet one bit. But, you are correct Jay. The money is not in selling real estate, it’s in telling others how to sell real estate. Just start calling yourself “the coach” that is sure to help. Unless people start thinking you are a closed four-wheeled horse-drawn carriage having doors in the sides and an elevated seat in front for the driver . ;-)

But you’re right, Jay needs douchebag lessons in order to pull this off.

I know a number of names from that list but would really not want to be included on a list with them.

Can’t believe I didn’t realize this was an April fools post until I got over to the comments page fully prepared to congratulate you. Only one that I fell for for any amount of time this year….probably helps that I stumbled on it a few days late when my guard was down.

Thanks for the laugh, Jay.
