Idiot Drives Lamborghini 219 MPH on Phoenix Freeway

by Jay - The Phoenix Real Estate Guy on November 28, 2007

Someone completely out of their mind has driven a Lamborghini Murcielago at 219 MPH on the Loop 202 Santan freeway in East Mesa.

And of course there is a video of this stunt on YouTube. The video is rather boring, but does show this clown passing cars and having to slow down on one of his speed attempts due to someone in front of him.

All this took place about 3 miles from my house.

I have to admit, the car sounds *great* in the video, and wow would it be fun to drive a $280,000 car like this. But really, what a stupid thing to do on a public roadway that isn’t designed for that kind of speed. He could have easily killed himself or others.

Officials are investigating. Ya think?

Four passes @ 200+MPH? Doesn’t anyone patrol that stretch? Dumb_ _ _ _.

2 Dr. Z. 11.28.07 at 10:26 pm

Faster, speedracer, faster!

“Doesn’t anyone patrol that stretch?”

I bet they do now…. the only time I’ve ever seen that stretch of the 202 with practically no cars on it is around 3:00am. I could say something about all the cops being in donut shops at that time, but I won’t.

Why is everyone up in arms over this? That’s exactly how we rush our buyer clients from one showing appointment to another, in Chi-town.

And you’re wrong … that engine sounds totally f’ing a awesome. Just glad he was on your unpopulated freeway and not mine.

Sure beats the hell out of the 96 MPH I got out of my 1988 Nissan Sentra on a trip to California so long ago I’m sure the statute of limitations has expired. :-)

Of course 96 in a Sentra’s kinda like 219 in a Lamborghini.

I don’t see to much wrong with flying down the freeway at that time of night. At least there was hardly anyone of the freeway.

I’ve done 170mph at 9am on the 210 in LA and it was on a motorcyle. That was a rush i must say.

Yes what they did was crazy and somewhat dangerous, BUT I would join them for the next trip

Jay,

You had to know that I would have to blatantly steal this video and post it on my sites… I also know that you’ll find it when it shows up on my blog.

It is terribly stupid, but fun to watch. Did they finally stop the Silver State Challenge over in NV? It was a legal high speed run for the money bunch.

BTW, if you want me to not run the post, let me know.

Okay true story from way back.

I’m driving home from my girlfriends place at about 2am. I suddenly realize I have not a single other car on the road with me. Three lanes in both directions. Just empty.

Completely empty highway.

Alone.

>:-D

Vroom! Vroom!

Nehhhhhhh, neeeeehhhhhhhhhh!

….gggggggrrrrrRRRROOOOOOOOOOWWWWWwwwlllllllllllllll………

!!!NNNNNEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

MOTHER OF PEARL ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY SEVEN!!!

Well that was my pulse. But the car went 105 MPH, which for a twenty year old 1971 Ford Triumph is impressive.

I told my Dad about it a months later and all the color drained from his face. Which is kinda odd seeing I was born and raised on stories of all his motor racing and other car “experiences”.

Anyway. Very naughty boys. Bad. Bad boys. No no no.

That’s the same stretch of freeway that was in Kingdom, the movie. It’s becoming quite famous.

I was in the Real Estate Blogging class today. Thanks for your input. I wish we could have spent more time. I learned a lot from the instructor and comments from everyone else. Thanks,

Pat

Glad you got something out of the blogging seminar Pat. Shailesh does a good job at those. It is a lot on info to try to absorb in 2 hours.

Thanks for stopping by!

I don’t know which is more frightening, Dalton’s 96 in a Sentra, or Athol’s 105 in a Triumph…

12 Athol Kay 12.01.07 at 2:36 pm

Well I was sober Jay… ;-P

For gods sake just buy a friggin GPS. Like we trust a cars speedo and its top speed recall. Take a gps to the dash and have at it. Then zoom in on the top speed on the gps. Thanks

I was rear ended on the I-17 by some clown going in excess of 100mph, thinking the highway was empty and who didn’t see me. I’m lucky to be typing this at the moment and am still in physical therapy 6 months later. I’m all for a good rush but that sort of reckless disregard just isn’t worth the risk. I hope to see the guy picking up trash on the same stretch of road.

This site identifies them and shows them doing same thing in other cars.

very nice powerful car.But thats a bit too dangerous dont you think eventhough its at that time of night?

17 ferrari owner 04.06.08 at 8:37 am

it is safe in that type of car it is like going 90 in a mini van i have taken my ferrari to 170

18 The Phoenix Real Estate Guy 04.06.08 at 5:57 pm

I’ve driven my wife’s mini-van at 90+. I’m not so sure it was as safe as doing 170 in a Ferrari… ;) And I’m pretty darn sure it wasn’t as much fun.

Hey Ferrari Owner, what would happen if you had a tire blow out at 170?

19 Matt Scoggins 04.07.08 at 9:35 am

Wow, 219 MPH! That’s nuts!! I’m all for that type of rush, but a very stupid thing to do on a public road. I’m glad no innocent people were killed.

20 Ken Smith 04.07.08 at 7:32 pm

safe? Yeah until someone else on the road changes lanes, or you hit a bump in the road, or a million other issues that can happen at those speeds. It’s one thing to go that fast on a closed course, but on a highway with others that is just crazy.

21 Jon Griffith 07.14.08 at 12:13 pm

Aside from the fact that this is a luxury sports vehicle, and that we would probably all enjoy the opportunity to drive one, Phoenix freeways weren’t designed to accomodate this type of driving, so it’s a huge risk for the driver, let alone the other drivers.

One wrong move and whammo. No more video no more driver and a potential disaster. If you want to drive this fast, go to Europe where they design roads for it, cause I’ll be inclined to toss a sandwich out the window if I see them in my rear view mirror. TUNA a la ghini, SMASH!
