Jay’s note: I’ve invited virtually every candidate running for Gilbert Town Council and Gilbert Mayor to guest author here. John Sentz is the fourth to respond (see all Gilbert Mayor/Council guest posts here). The Gilbert primaries are March 10. Please, get out and vote! Local elected officials have far more influence over your daily life than anyone in Washington, yet historically voter turnout for these elections is abysmal.
Given the current economic environment, the Gilbert Town Council requires experienced leadership. The recent emergency landing of flight 1549 on the Hudson River best demonstrates the value of experience. Had the pilots been less experienced, the results may not have been so positive. There is no substitute for experience. I have over 30 years of experience in a leadership role in both industry and the military. I managed multi- million dollar projects for a large corporation. As a project manager, I was responsible for managing to the budget while meeting a demanding delivery schedule and achieving continuously improving quality goals. During my service as a military officer, I served in a leadership role where I was responsible for a large number of people. I received numerous awards in recognition of my leadership ability.
I have been an active volunteer on the Gilbert Planning Commission for four years. I served as the founding Chair of the Gilbert Veterans Day committee for two years and continue to serve as a committee member. I am a graduate of Gilbert Leadership and served on the board of Directors for three years. These years of service to our Town have not only educated me in the operations of various aspects of the Town and various organizations but have enabled me to give back to our community. This background and experience, coupled with my leadership role in various not for profit organizations has prepared me to serve our Town as a member of your Town Council. My service and experience are reflected in the endorsements of the Professional Fire Fighters of Arizona, Gilbert Chamber of Commerce, Gilbert Small Business Alliance and The Arizona Republic.
If elected, I will work to ensure we are able to attract the businesses we need to build a strong and diversified economic base, obtain a more diversified input from residents on issues in the Town and achieve accountability in our Government. Your vote for John Sentz is a vote for Leadership, Experience, Ability and Community Commitment. Please mark your ballot for John Sentz for Gilbert Town Council.

Sentz keeps saying he has all the ‘experience’, but look at what he’s done in Gilbert…made it worse! He claims he is all for small businesses and touts his phony self endorsement from his own founded group: The Small Business Alliance! (http://www.gilbertsba.com/News.asp?AID=AAAAAAAXGU)
But as a member of the planning commission he voted not to renew the agritainment permit for a SMALL business-Mother Natures Farm.
Commsioner Sentz, also approved an appeal that was brought by Alliance Residential for Main Street Commons that allowed them to turn their project into essentially a large scale apartment complex. The decision gave Alliance Residential legal footing and now it’s costing the town tons in legal expenses. This was wrong for Gilbert! Now Alliance has tabled this project until after the election. Nice timing huh?
Additionally, he says he’s is all for bringing businesses into Gilbert, but it’s the worst, most inefficient and hardest place to do business in the Valley. Again, he has done nothing in his current positions to streamline it or make it easier!
This so called ‘experience’ is not what Gilbert needs more of!
John Sentz has no credibility on the issue of experience. As someone who has been intimately involved with the present town council for several years, Sentz should have known better when he sent out his last mailer and left off the “paid for” disclaimer. This is a must do for any campaign committee and someone like Sentz should have been paying attention to the rules. Sentz, who was in the military and knows the importance of “attention to detail,” should have know better. It’s hard to believe that all his time on the Planning Commission has left his void of important details like that.
Well, I’m not from the area and I don’t know any of the candidates, but judging from their posts on here it does sound like you have a nice choice of people running for election!
Sounds like a good man for the job-I’m kinda glad I don’t have to vote in your area; you have so many great candidates running it would be hard to choose!

How fun to share the candidates here; I am sure they are glad to get the press!
You should share the results after the election; it would be fun to hear who won after learning about their platforms!

I enjoyed reading the posts from all the candidates-that was a really great idea, Jay!
I am amazed at how many people don’t vote; I hope your local elections do have a good turn out this year!
