Karen George, a Phoenix area lender who is battling a repeat occurrence of cancer is selflessly working on starting a non-profit organization to support research being conducted on early detection of breast cancer.
From today’s Arizona Republic article about Karen and her organization:
Undergoing three rounds of treatment in as many years would be enough to discourage many people, but rather than dwell on her illness she is creating a non-profit organization called SOMAD, which is both an acronym for “Save Our Mothers and Daughters” as well as a combination of the words “so mad.”
. . .
George said that SOMAD, which she hopes to launch in January, will support the research that is currently being conducted by the Dr. Susan Love Foundation to benefit early detection of breast cancer. Her plans include holding benefit dinners and selling t-shirts and other items to raise money for the organization.
Karen’s fight against cancer was discussed here on Phoenix Real Estate Guy back in September. A donation link has resided near the top right corner of the blog ever since to try to help Karen fight and survive.
Take a moment to read the Republic article. Look at what she’s gone through, and what she’s doing. Her medical bills are staggering, if you can donate anything, please consider it.
Here is a young lady in the battle of her life. Yet through her ActiveRain blog, she reaches out to help real estate professionals in the sometimes daunting technology arena and she works toward founding a non-profit cancer organization. All while running her own mortgage branch.
Remarkable.
