I received an e-mail the other day from Michael, Karen's husband, advising me of her passing. I was deeply saddened when I read the short message and shed a lot of tears. I posted back in May and indicated how I know them and I can say that out of all of the people I have come in contact with during my life, both personal and professional, I would have to say that Karen and Michael are probably the most giving, caring, unselfish, keep on going no matter what people I've ever met. I don't think I ever heard them talk badly about anyone and when Karen was just starting to deal with cancer, neither of them complained or agonized over what would come. Karen's outlook on life is amazing. I will continue to talk about her as being here because she is, around all that she touched, and I hope we can all learn a lesson from her about strength, motivation, selflessness, caring and the desire to go on even during our lowest times. Thank you Karen and Michael for touching my life.

Karen sounds remarkable and I would love to meet her one day. Working on Relay For Life of Lake Travis for 5 years has introduced me to some amazing people who have fought cancer. I can't inagine holding up as well as Karen has if I was in her position. My hat is off to Karen!

I am fortunate to be able to say that I worked with Karen, as one of her lenders, prior to and while she was going through her first battle with cancer. My fellow co-workers and I were so amazed at how she continued on and handled herself. She never let you know if she was having a bad day and always had an amazing attitude. Many others would have probably just quit, but not Karen. She endured treatments and handled them with such grace, amazing strenght and as indicated previously an amazing attitude. A friend just forwarded this information to me and I am sad to hear that she is/was, for a 3rd time, facing a battle. Karen, you are an amazing young woman and your selflessness will not go unnoticed. My prayers are with you and your loved ones.

Paula - YOU are to be commended. There was a factual error in the article. It said I found out about Karen's fight on Active Rain. It was actually your reaching out to Phoenix area bloggers that alerted me about Karen's situation. I had seen some of her fantastic posts, but I don't read AR very often and wasn't aware of her battle with cancer.

Jay - Thanks for keeping this "in the news". Karen is very much a selfless person, always sharing, giving and commanding a laugh. She will tell you, it's not just about her, but about educating others, so that someday - mothers and daughters around the world will never have to face what Karen has gone through.
