Mmmmmmm Tomatoes…: Listening to Jim Cronin

in Real Estate, Real Estate Tech Stuff

If you read real estate blogs with any regularity, you know Jim Cronin of The Real Estate Tomato. The Tomato has long been a favorite stop of mine (and many others).

Today I had the pleasure of listening to Jim espouse on lots of things related to blogging. He was on a Point2 Agent "Coaching Call". On the call Jim freely shared his wisdom in all things blogging. He's an engaging speaker, and seems to be an all around nice guy. Not to mention he knows of what he speaks. If you are a Point2 Agent member and even remotely curious about real estate blogging, you should be smacking yourself in the head if you missed this call. The good news is Jim all but publicly promised to return for more sessions. I for one plan to hold him to that promise….

Now I've been doing this blogging thing for awhile, so I have to admit that I didn't learn a lot of new stuff. But for the intended target of new and relatively new bloggers, this call was a "must hear". It was good however, for me to hear Jim reiterate the need to focus, and determine what you want out of a blog. It's no secret to any semi-regular reader of The Phoenix Real Estate Guy that this blog wanders all over creation. Personally, I kinda like it that way, despite the fact that it probably drives some people nuts. But it's not ideal for "blog marketing" myself and my lovely bride's real estate services. I also never really thought about my "blog uniform" — how you dress your blog (sidebars and whatnot) and how that can impact your SEO. Enlightening stuff! Like Jim, I don't give blog SEO much conscious thought. It just works. But it could work better with a bit of thought…

I did learn one very cool thing that I don't believe a lot of people in the RE.net blogiverse are aware of.  Jim, in his infinite wisdom, is on the verge of launching "Tomato Tutorials"…

What the heck is a Tomato Tutorial? No, you won't learn to make the world's best marinara sauce. But you will (soon, I suspect) find little video snippets explaining blogging "how-to's". To quote from TomatoTutorial.com:

Our library of video flash tutorials will help you focus on the micro elements of your blogging success. Our high quality tutorials will train you on everything from:

  • Getting started
  • Developing your voice
  • Embracing the blogging tools
  • Generating traffic
  • Gaining the respect of your peers
  • Tricking out your blog
  • Integrating video and podcasts
  • Dominating the search engines
  • Generating leads
  • …and much much more!

Sounds wicked cool! And I for one look forward to seeing more. (And hearing more from Jim!)

It’s pretty good have articles like this one, wanna know the infomation about real estate and kelowna developments, Okanagan homes. there is lot of information, and providing suggestions.Kelowna’s real estate market is the hottest in Canada. Kelowna which situated in the Okanagan Valley is the real reason this city is experiencing incredible price rises, where else can you have mediterranean type summers and mild winters.thank you for commenting.

Jay,

Thanks so much for your kind words and support. I guess you really put the fire under our feet to get the Tomato Tutorial project launched.
The P2A coaching was a blast, and you can hold me to doing another one as soon as they’ll book me. Until then, we’ll see you at the top!

Jim - it was a great session. Any kind words and support were earned and well deserved…

David - probably not the best idea to spam other real estate blogs. You’ve got a good start on yours. If you write a comment that contributes to the article you’re commenting on, it will be much better received (and I wouldn’t feel the need to remove the hyperlinks to your blog). I love getting comments, and will gladly let virtually any comment stand untouched, even if you completely disagree. But I can’t handle something that is really nothing more than spam….
