This is about the last thing a parent wants to see in their neighborhood. Fortunately, the little boy was able to get away from this sick bastard — who is still roaming the streets.
The kidnapping attempt happened about a half a mile from my home. That is WAY too close for comfort! "Things like that just don't happen around here" has been heard all around the neighborhood the last few days.
Sadly, things like this can happen anywhere.

DATE AND TIME OF INCIDENT: Wednesday, June 20 at 6:15 p.m.
LOCATION OF INCIDENT: 4100 Block of East Harvard Ave., Gilbert, AZ
SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: Boy Escapes Abduction Attempt
GILBERT – A man tried to abduct an 8-year-old Gilbert boy Wednesday evening.
An eight year old boy was riding his bicycle in the 4100 block of East Harvard about 6:15 p.m. when he escaped what he believed was an abduction attempt. A man driving a pickup truck stopped, exited the truck and lunged at the boy. The frightened boy rode his bike away and escaped the alleged abduction attempt. The boy was shaken but unharmed.
The boy described the attacker’s vehicle as a dark green single-cab pickup truck with silver writing on the tailgate. There are possible scratches on the driver side door.
The boy described his attacker as mid to late teens Hispanic with a shaved head, thin mustache, with a small amount of facial hair beneath his lower lip, light complexion, and wearing sunglasses, a black short sleeve t-shirt, black jeans and white tennis shoes. The attacker possibly had a tattoo on his arm. He told police he did not know which way the attacker fled.
Gilbert police are working with the Mesa Police Department to determine if there is a connection with this incident and recent similar incidents in Mesa.
