Odysseus Medal Winners Announced

by Jay - The Phoenix Real Estate Guy on October 1, 2007

This week’s Odysseus Medal winners are posted.

Jonathan Dalton, an agent on the “other side” of Phoenix, an outstanding writer and an all around nice guy won the Odysseus Medal with his brilliant post, Real Estate 2.0 and the Phoenix Real Estate Consumer. “Real Estate 2.0″ doesn’t just effect real estate professionals, it has a huge potential impact on real estate consumers (be they in Phoenix or elsewhere).

Steven Leung penned Hidden Factors When Calculating a Home’s Value and took home the Black Pearl honors with an outstanding analysis of using cost per square foot to price homes.

One of our posts on the Aaron Anglin tragedy was voted the winner of the People’s Choice Award. Thanks to whomever submitted it, and all that voted for it. I hope the extra publicity exposes the plight of Aaron’s widow and young children to more who are in a position to donate.

As has been the case since week 1, all of the contenders in this week’s competition (and the long list too) were fine examples of superior real estate weblogging.

Be sure to keep your eyes out for great real estate blog posts, and nominate them here for next weeks awards.

It seems really … weird, I suppose … to congratulate you given the subject matter. But it was a wonderful, wonderful post on a terrible subject.

I agree Jon: In a way, I feel like no of us should be recognized for helping a fellow blogger and friend, as I feel that’s more of something that should be expected.

Jay along with several others all did a wonderful job and I personally feel all those contributors together earned this award.

Having recently left the blogging world to go into writing full-time, I remain very grateful to what Jay and others did for Lani and her family. Even through I wasn’t able to contribute as much as I would have liked, I have to say that just coming p with the green ribbon idea and watching it spread doing God’s work in helping a family in need, I have to say that was the highlight of my blogging career. The awards, carnival wins, the top such and such list, none of that matters, but knowing deep down we made a difference in the lives of at least one person is one of the greatest feeling one can ever experience online and in person.
