Linsey, that has been my experience as well with conferences. I have found often the people you meet and the relationships you develop are more valuable than the speeches. This is of course not to say that you can’t learn a lot from the speeches and demonstrations as well.

I have to say, I tried to pull this off last minute but to no avail. So wanted to be there.I'm not one to 'drink the Kool-Aid' and can pass on a lot of the cheer leading, thank you. But, one thing I have learned about conferences - the people I meet are extraordinary folks. Often they are the ones really engaged with the industry with their ear to the ground. Those kinds of connections make it so meaningful and very worthwhile.Bummed to miss this one. Hope we can connect one of these days at a future event. I attended Inman’s shindig in San Francisco for 3 years and enjoyed it. I got to meet Craig of Craigslist , the head honcho of HouseValues and some other important and just plain great folks.

I got the feeling, however, that I was paying to be sold to. There’s always going to be some promoting of vendors in the general sessions but it eventually crossed my line. In addition, I’m still ticked at Inman because it seemed to me that one morning he was complaining about his long time personal real estate agent because she wouldn’t cut her commission. Oh brother! That was so wrong on so many levels. And that was the last straw for me.

Anyway, the annual StarPower conference seems to always conflict with Connect in San Francisco and – for me – StarPower is far more useful; tried and true stuff rather than seeing what cool new technologies might be coming down the pike.

I’m sure, however, that Inman Connect is a blast since you already know a ton of bloggers the moment you walk in the door.

Nevertheless, I look forward to the first “Phoenix Real Estate Guy Connect” in Phoenix!
