Sorry IE6 Users…

June 23, 2008 Comments

Regular reader and all around good guy Matt Pellerin pointed out to me today that the new blog theme I installed over the weekend is rendering the blog header differently in Internet Explorer 6 than it is in IE7 or Firefox.
You should see this:

But if you use IE6, you see this:

Apparently, IE6 renders the CSS [...]

Harvard Releases “State of the Nation’s Housing 2008″

June 23, 2008 Comments

The Joint Center for Housing Studies (Harvard University) has released a report titled, “The State of the Nation’s Housing 2008”.
It’s lengthy (44 pages) and I haven’t had a chance to digest it yet. Even the “Executive Summary” is five pages of double-column text.
I’ll try to report back with my thoughts later in the week.
The opening [...]

There he goes again, jacking with the layout of Phoenix Real Estate Guy…

June 22, 2008 Comments

If you’re reading in a feed reader, you won’t notice a thing different here.
But if you’re visiting “in person” you’ll see that I’ve changed the theme/format of the blog. Yet again.
The content will be the same riveting and enthralling writing you’ve come to know and love (Hey! That’s what my Mom says). I’m just changing [...]

Phoenix Real Estate Guy Adds Video Comment Capability

June 22, 2008 Comments

I’ve added the Seesmic video comment plugin, which will allow you to post video comments to Phoenix Real Estate Guy.
It’s not playing perfectly well right now, I think I have some theme compatibility problems. This theme seems to have gone a bit wonky since upgrading to Wordpress 2.5.1. “Sounds like a good excuse to switch [...]

June 19, 2008 Comments

The East Valley Tribune reported that a Chandler, AZ man is threatening a $200,000 defamation suit against the City of Chandler and the Chandler Police Department for erroneously notifying his neighbors that a registered sex offender was living in his home.

Going Batty in Phoenix

June 18, 2008 Comments

Those that read here regularly (and pay attention, and care) are likely aware that my home town is Austin, Texas.
One (of many) cool things about Austin is it is home to the largest urban bat colony in North America.
750,000 – 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats hang out under Austin’s Congress Avenue bridge. There are bat [...]

Silly Counter Offers Redux

June 17, 2008 Comments

Oy, can’t believe I just used a Latin word in the title…
But that’s really neither here nor there.
In an article posted Sunday I discussed “silly counter offers”. The esteemed John Wake left this comment:
“It also sounds like you have a great client… and the seller and/or listing agent will be a PITA the whole way.”
For [...]

Electronic Signatures and Silly Counter Offers

June 15, 2008 Comments

Received this wonderful email from a current client:

The speed this client mentions is really all predicated on the use of electronic signatures. We use DocuSign as our “e-signature processor”, which enables us to send, sign and receive real estate contracts and documents at the speed of email. It’s convenient for all involved — the clients, the [...]

How to Survive a Phoenix Summer

June 14, 2008 Comments

Back in December, I wrote a tongue-in-cheek post titled, “How to Survive a Phoenix Winter”. A couple of folks (from colder climate) said they wanted to see a follow up post in the summer.
Well, as you can see from the image above, summer has arrived in full force.
There really is only one way to survive [...]
