I’m a big fan of historic homes. They just don’t build them the same these days – the different styles, the colors, just the “attitude” of a historic home isn’t like the typical stucco and tile roofs you see throughout Phoenix suburbia.
Two of my favorite Phoenix historic homes areas are having neighborhood tours this month. These aren’t just home tours, they are neighborhood events. I’ve attended the Willo festival before and it was a blast. The Brentwood / Coronado tour is new:
The 2010 Willo Home Tour
What: 22nd Annual Willo Historic Home Tour and Street Festival
When: Sunday, February 14, 2010 from 10:00am – 4:00pm
Where: Willo Historic District – 3rd Ave & Holly Street, Phoenix (map)
Cost: $13.75 online in advance, $15 day of event. Kids 12 and under are free.
More Information: Willo Historic District site.
The 2010 Brentwood Historic District Tour (in the Coronado neighborhood)
What: Home Tour 2010: Undiscovered Coronado!
When: Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 10:00am – 5:00pm
Where: Brentwood Historic District – 18th Street and Willetta, Phoenix (map)
Cost: $12.50 online in advance, $15 day of event. (A portion of the proceeds goes toward renovation of East Virginia Street park.)
More Information: Coronado Neighborhood Association site.

A Historic home tour is a great idea. We have a few areas here in San Jose and Los Gatos California that would be perfect candidates. Would anyone have tips as to how I might go about implementing one for my clients and community? Your ideas would be appreciated.
I think a video tour would really be good. an improvement over this one…

Jay, thanks for putting out the reminder about the historic home tours. I remember when they tried to get the Coronado Historic Home Tour going when I lived there. Glad to see that they managed to get one organized..
