There are several areas in the Phoenix Valley with “Midcentury Modern” homes. I love these homes — they are chocked full of style and character. I can’t see one without imagining Frank, Dean and Sammy lounging pool side in Palm Springs.
ModernPhoenix.net is a *great* website dedicated to modern Phoenix homes. It’s jammed FULL of fabulous info on these 60’s era classics. Photos, how-to’s, an active message board and more. Anything and everything you could ever want to know about mid-century modern architecture is here. I could go on and on about this site, but why listen to me. Go there! Highly recommended!
Both sellers and buyers are usually incredibly passionate about these homes and the lifestyle and era they represent. Some people love these homes, some not-so-much. They aren’t for everyone, but then, what style is? However, if you grow weary of wall-to-wall earth tone stucco, give this style of home some serious consideration. You may just be pleasantly surprised at what “modernism” has to offer.
Here’s an article in today’s Arizona Republic that prompted me to finally get off my duff and link to ModernPhoenix.net. I visit there often. I’ve been avoiding the forum because the last thing I need is yet another forum to suck up time. But I finally caved and registered today. Maybe I’ll see you there!
