Our humble little corner of the blogiverse has experienced a surge in traffic of late (thanks oh avid readers!). At times the site slows to a crawl and over the last several days, some readers have been treated to this:

This is not good. Our host, GoDaddy, is aware of the problem and says they are on it. GoDaddy has in the past offered excellent support, though I must admit I am a bit concerned. We are on a “shared server” meaning we share space and bandwidth with who knows how many other web sites. I would think GoDaddy would have more than enough resources to handle a blog that’s getting in the range of 700 unique visits a day. In the grand scheme of the Internet, that is a miniscule amount of traffic and should not present a host with any difficulties.
I apologize for the errors and can only ask that you hit the refresh button if you run into this type of error (and if you can, kindly let me know if you are experiencing any errors). Should GD not be able to resolve this, I’ll be in the market for a new host and would love to hear some suggestions! Anyone a raving fan of their web hosting service?

MediaTemple’s Grid Server – $20/month for distributed cluster hosting (more resistant to traffic spikes than Shared hosting). Plus you can host up to 100 websites on the basic package!
Think of all the single property websites you could build…
I’ve heard some bad things about Go Daddy too, but most of the things I hear are good.
We use both bluehost.com and namecheap.com – both are $6.95/month but bluehost.com has better (or quicker because of live chat) service and features. We haven’t had problems with either company.
A Bluehost user here. I find the internal interface to be superior and faster…much faster.
So far so good and I have yet to explore all features
I’m happy with pair.com.
I recommend DreamHost.

But this should not happen, as you said that the blog gets 700 uniques a day. I am also using godaddy for my 2 blogs and blogs get arround 2000 uniques a day but it is working fine. I think the problem may be something else.
