I posted here back in May that Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart had put his Ahwatukee home up for sale.
Now the NBA Phoenix Suns star Amaré Stoudemire has bought Matty’s digs.
The Arizona Republic reports the 6,800 square foot home was listed in June for $2.4 million and sold in four months.
Not quite accurate reporting. According to the MLS and public tax records, it was listed on April 11 at $2,390,00. Reduced in July to $2,249,000 and closed November 6 at $1,900,000.
Amaré, with his $73 million five year contract paid cash for the home. (Wonder if Matt required proof of funds before he signed the papers?)
According to public records, Leinart paid $2,421,000 for the home in June 2006. So Leinart lost a cool $521K. Don’t feel too bad though. He’s standing on the sidelines making approximately $529K per game, so he made up that loss last Sunday. (per game calculation based on the Cardinals not making the playoffs during Matt’s six year contract. A pretty safe assumption.)
From the Republic article:
With this purchase, Stoudemire has spent more than $6 million on four Valley homes, including two condominiums in the posh Camelback Esplanade and an older house he was going to tear down to put up a bigger and newer one in north Central Phoenix.
Note to Amaré — call me if you need a new agent...
