Real Estate Blogger Card Sells for Record Amount

Ebay card

Grant Freer at RealSeekr knows an investment when he sees one.

Grant was the winning bidder in an eBay auction for an autographed, mint condition real estate blogger trading card featuring yours truly.

In a frenzied bidding war, Grant pulled ahead and won the battle with a bid of $225.

Oh wait, there is a decimal point in there…  Looks like $2.25 is the winning bid.

None the less, it is the highest amount ever paid for a real estate blogger trading card. The fact that it’s the first real estate blogger trading card to be sold (that I am aware of) has no bearing what-so-ever.

I can’t believe you people let Grant basically steal this treasure out from underneath you. Do you have any idea what this thing will be worth in the years to come?

Yeah, me neither.  But thanks to the six people that played along and submitted bids!

And a HUGE thanks to Grant and Gia at RealSeekr.com (an awesome site BTW) and Daniel Rothamel at the Real Estate Zebra for coming up with the wicked cool trading card idea!

Hmm, I’m torn between two thoughts. First, should I have tried to buy the first card (somehow this missed my radar screen)? And second, do I think I could sell my trading card for more than yours, thus establishing the new high?

Jay,

I will have it framed and saved…I am sure it will be worth millions (well, maybe not millions, but it will be worth it!)

LOL :) I was expecting to have to break out the cookie jar and show everyone I meant business. In a couple of years they wont be worried about who owns Barry Bonds baseball – they’ll be asking who has the first edition, mint condition, autographed and framed Jay Thompson Rookie Card from REBarCamp SF 2008!

Jay,
I have one of your cards and I’ll sell it to you for $5. Then you can resell it for $10? I had no idea how valuable your mug shot would be. Hum, eBay? Yahoo? Amazon?

It’s waiting for the higest bidder, just let me know.

How the hell did I miss this? I would have paid 8.65!

Hmmmm, maybe I should make mine too, once I get MY blog online again…

Like Steve, I can’t believe this slipped by my radar screen, I’m sure I would have ponied up at least $3.00 for this gem. How much is Francy’s card going for, certainly more?

Awesome!

I’ve been giving away rookie blogger autographed “Rad Brad” cards to anyone who’ll take them. Hit me up @bradcoy on twitter. ;)

You think I’m kidding, but they’re going. Oh yeah baby, they are go… ing.

Had I known it was for sale, I would have bid. Congrats on the sale!

Jay — Lost in all this is the old record. Upon returning from San Francisco with my newly minted trading cards, I happily handed one over to my favorite Starbucks lady. She was so enamored she refused to charge me for my Grande Coffee. That established the open market value of exactly $1.85 which was, of course, obliterated by your card on eBay.

Alas, I held the record for only a few fleeting days.

Congrats.

Wow– days pass before I can ever catch up on the PREG blog… this definitely missed my radar too.. I know I would have paid $8.75 to capture the winning bid! However, I do appreciate your kind generosity by giving me my very own ‘PhoenixRealEstateGuy’ trading card tonight! I am honored to own one from the original deck. I will cherish it.

Jay, you were completely ripped off! I’ll give you $8.76 for one of your signed cards. Hell I’ll give you $20.00 if you promise to send the money to charity! Email me for the address and I’ll put the check in the mail.
