September 11: Eighteen years ago

james0001As I type this memorial services are happening in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Shanksville, PA and the names of almost 3,000 people murdered on September 11, 2001 are scrolling across the TV screen on Fox News.

Eight years ago today, our lives changed. Everyone remembers where they were and what they were thinking on that day.

Eighteen years ago today, On September 11, 1991, my son James was born. Talk about a life changing moment! I’ll never forget witnessing the birth of my son, looking down at this beautiful baby and feeling overwhelmed with love while thinking, “Oh dear God. What do I do now?”

Today he is legally** an adult, and I love him even more than I did eighteen years ago. I’m so proud of the man he’s become. We’ve had some great times, we’ve had some tough times. I think I did some things right as a parent, and I know I did more things wrong. But the kid turned out to be one hell of a human being, and I’m proud to call him my friend and my son.

** Remember buddy, you may be an adult now, but as long as you’re in my house, ya still follow my rules…

As what you have been written in here. It only shows how loving and an excellent father you are, why I say it because you raised your kid in the right way. And telling us of how proud you are to your son, that's enough I heard that I can say that your son is really a good man.

Cash. That's what my kids want/need/enjoy. Not very personal, but it works.

It is amazing how dramatic events in life, whether good or bad, etch vivid memories in our minds. Thanks to all our first responders and military who work hard everyday to keep us safe.

May be it's 8 not 18 years ago?I love peace in every where.

I guess he's paying rent now? Having a dad in real estate isn't all that it's cracked up to be! :)

My son Tim is 17 on the 12th. That's tomorrow. Any suggestions for a BDay present?

"I’m so proud of the man he’s become."As they say, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" so it's no surprise to me that your son should be a fine man in every way. It's nice that you have something so wonderful to associate with this date.

His legal status is that you can legally throw him out of the house if he forgets that it is, in fact your house :) I was having a father moment last night with my three girls, all under 12. I am elated that they will be wives and mothers on day, but scared to death that I am the one responsible for teaching them how to do it! ...and teaching them what to look for in their future husbands. As far as "dumass" you'd think he'd know how to spell it, as he's most like been referred to one a number of times in his life.

Maybe he meant "Dumas", and was comparing your blog to The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas in its connection to the bonds of manhood that connect us all.Maybe?

They grow up so fast, don't they Jay. My son turns 21 next week:http://businessbloggingpros.typepad.com/busines.....

I belive the word you're looking for is "dumb ass", not "dumass". And did you even read the article?*sigh*

Nothing changes life more than a child- nothing. They are all wonderful. And, James, listen to your father. :)

Nothing changes life more than a child - every children wants cash to enjoy...They are not looking for saving...simply spending money for enjoyment..I pity on them..
