Two weeks ago, I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Bill Lublin and his lovely wife Sheila at the Inman Real Estate Connect conference in San Francisco.
Yesterday, we received the tragic news that Shelia passed away unexpectedly of what appears to be an aneurysm or embolism.
Though I met and spoke with Sheila only briefly, it was readily apparent that she and Bill absolutely adored each other. She was warm, funny and witty. I felt like I could immediately call her my friend.
Bill is a friend and fellow contributor on the Agent Genius blog, and is understandably devastated. I can not imagine the pain he is suffering.
Some of us are chipping in money to help Bill and his son get through the next few days by setting up food deliveries from local Philadelphia area restaurants/deli’s. If you’d like to contribute, you can click on the donation widget in the right side bar. Excess donations will be sent to the American Cancer Society.
Services for Shelia will be held on Friday August 8, at 10:00am Eastern time.

If you’d like to mail Bill a card, email me or leave a comment and I’ll get you his address.
In honor of Shelia, and Bill’s wishes that we spend a day with those we love and cherish, Phoenix Real Estate Guy will be “going dark” on Friday.

Thank you for the info. I am so sorry to hear she passed. I’ve not been as intouch with things lately. Thank you for remembering her.
Jay - Thanks for this post, as well as the links to the other posts. Our thoughts are with the Lublin family.
Selfishly I know for me, writing seems to help some, but reading how others feel helps more.
Bill, I wish there was something more I could do to ease your pain than sitting helplessly here across the country with a heavy heart. Please know that you are in my every thought.
Jay, I’ve been reading Bill’s posts on Ag, and following him on Twitter. Was delighted to have crossed paths with him in San Francisco. I did not meet Sheila, as so many did, so have been learning about her through all the posts. This morning, I had the thought to visit Sheila’s Twitter account @Pinky379. Her posts are just delightful. Very light and happy. What a special person.
Dru, I did the same thing. I looked in Flickr, in FaceBook, and Twitter. I too missed meeting her in S.F.
I do not personally know Bill, but have followed him as well. My prayers go out to him and his family in these difficult times.
Jay, thank you so much for spreading the word. This has really been rough on our online family, especially because so many of us have had the chance to meet Sheila. That feeling you had that you could immediately call her a friend is apparently how everyone in her life has felt. Bill said she has always made people so happy and everyone warms up to her instantly. When we met, I knew instantly why Bill is so madly in love with her, even after spending more than 3 decades together. Through this sad loss, our community has done an amazing job in lifting Bill up from within our own thousands of independent cities and communities and I thank you for taking charge in his cause. God bless.
News like this is always heartbreaking whether you know the person or not! May God bless her family and make them strong!
