Larry Fitzgerald and Kurt Warner post game

“Shock the World!”
“Stunned disbelief.”
“Are you f’ing kidding me?!?”

Those are some common reactions when folks hear the Arizona Cardinals are in the Superbowl.

I can barely get my fingers to type those words. The Arizona Cardinals are in the Superbowl.

Wow.

Look out Tampa (and the Steelers), the game may never be the same.

On February 1, with kickoff time at approximately 4:20pm Mountain, Superbowl XLIII (43) begins and the Arizona Cardinals will be playing in their first Superbowl ever (and first NFL championship game since they were the Chicago Cardinals 61 years ago — thus ending the second longest professional championship drought in history. The hapless Cubs are first in that category).

I can not profess to be a die hard Cardinals fan. The Denver Broncos are my team of choice and have been for over 35 years. But I do have a ton of respect for many of the Cardinals players, especially QB Kurt Warner and WR Larry Fitzgerald. Those guys are both class acts and Fitz is in my opinion the best wide receiver in the league. As the home town team, I root for them in every game (unless it’s against Denver). I do still think the Bidwell’s (the Cards owners) are buffoons, but let’s not belabor that point.

The Cards going to the Superbowl is great for Phoenix. It will be fun to watch the reaction around here in the next two weeks. Last years Superbowl was played in Phoenix (Glendale to be precise) but something tells me the Superbowl parties are going to be a whole lot better this year…

Larry Fitzgerald is a beast!!! That guy is a circus freak in pads! Best of luck to them as they try to tackle the best defense in the NFL.

My husband still seems to be in shock over yesterday’s game. Must have been quite the upset. Good luck in the Super Bowl!

That was one of the better games I’ve ever seen the Cards play. Though I have to admit that I thought we had turned the momentum around completely on the play where there was a double turnover.

Go Cards! (Better luck next season Bears… :-( )

P.S. Still a die hard Cubs fan too.

Hey Jay! You learn something new every day! (I didn’t know you were a Bronco’s fan.) Regardless, I’m excited for your hometown & the buzz of excitement you’ll be having for the next couple weeks!

Congrats Cards!

OK, the Cardinals run has been cute, but really, beat the mighty Men of Steel? The Steelers have played the toughest regular season schedule in the NFL in 30+ years, they are tested and ready to rumble, just ask the tough guy Ravens. OK, I am a wee bit worried about the fact the Cards have Kurt Warner (Iowa boy!), Edgerrin James, and that Fitzgerald guy.

I’m thrilled for the Cardinals, but I don’t think they will be able to fly through the new version of the steel curtain.

Congrats on making the Superbowl but I’m sorry, I’m betting on the Steelers. They say offense wins games but defense wins championships and that’s why I pick the Steelers to win this one. I’m expecting a great game from Troy Polamalu (again). :D

Quite amazing that they made it to the superbowl especially how they ended the regular season. Have to give them credit though and hard not to root for a guy like Kurt Warner.

Uh-Oh…looks like there will be some friendly rivalry between us for the next week and a half since I am a huge Steelers Fan :)

Should be a good game, and I’m excited for Arizona to make it to the Super Bowl for the first time! I actually like Arizona a good bit – used some of their players in our fantasy league. BUT…still have to say Go Steelers!!

This is why football is such a great sport. On any given Sunday, anything can happen. Congratulations to the Arizona Cardinals for making it to the Super Bowl. We’re all going to be in Tampa to celebrate at the Leigh Steinberg Super Bowl Party.

Jay ~ Being a Seahawks fan, I sure hope that your Super Bowl experience with the Steelers goes better than mine did. The game still brings up too many bad memories to talk about it out loud, but I will just say that I will be rooting hard for the Cardinals.

We’ll be pulling for the Cards next Sunday – they’ve given us something to cheer about since our Colts choked again this year.

Nice to see Edge showing some signs of life – always felt bad that we made it to the Superbowl without him, but based on an offense built around him. He’ll have quite the challenge with the Steeler’s D though.

Funny how at the beginning of the playoffs EVERY sportscaster was predicting the AZ was least deserving to be there and they would lose in the first round. Well here we are in the Super Bowl. I’m a Bears fan but have the utmost amount of recent respect for the Cards. Whisenhunt did a great job

I wasn’t as shocked by the Cardinals making it to the Super Bowl as others have been. In fact for the last three years I have been wondering why the Cardinals were not a major playoff contender. It is really exciting for me to see Kurt Warner back in the big show because I have felt that he has gotten a bad rap the last 4 years. Go Kurt and team!

That had to be one of the best super bowls I have ever seen. It is also the second most disappointing loss for a team that I was rooting for and this comes from a long time Buffalo Bills fan. The first most disappointing loss was Norwoods missed feild goal against the Giants.
