This is a 24 inch flat screen monitor from Gateway (Model FPD22485W). It's freaking HUGE! The really cool thing is that it pivots 90 degrees, which makes viewing and designing web pages an absolute pleasure. I can view virtually an entire page, or open up large windows with multiple web pages at the same time. I saw similar monitors when I visited Point2 and I just had to have one.

Resolution is 1920 x 1200 (or more correctly 1200 x 1920 when pivoted, which it is 98% of the time).

Somehow it magically knows whether it's in "portrait" or "landscape" mode and adjusts the display accordingly. It also has about a bazillion ports for plugging in all sorts of video stuff. You can set it up to display a video source (say your television) in a PIP (Picture in Picture) as well as other video-ish stuff I'm not familiar with (yet).

The display is crisp and bright, and with some minor tweaking to color settings, the colors are outstanding.

My lovely bride just shakes her head in disbelief when I express love and deep admiration for my new monitor.

But I know that some of you out there understand completely.

This thing is just wicked cool….

Your Texan heritage is evident in the BUDWEISER prominently featured in your office area- nice!

Austin Wife - Any self-respecting southern gal would lament the absence of a Lone Star Longneck.

Jay - PLEASE tell me you staged that photo of your workstation! It is hideously well-kept. When I leave the general area of my home office, I invariably feel the sudden need to shower. (Cool toy, BTW).

ARW - I’d prefer a Shiner Bock to show my Austin roots, but it’s difficult to find here at times.

Kris - What you can’t see is the desk behind that work station… it’s piled obscenely high with papers, files, and empty Starbuck’s cups. God only knows what is underneath some of those piles….

LOL…Holy crap Jay is all I can say! Boys and their toys!

Good grief, Jay, that is a beautiful thing! I understand your new love completely and long for one myself… Enjoy!

Wow thats a huge monitor. That must be great for watching [wife hitting me sorry, can't complete the joke].

I’ll be sure my husband does not see this post. He’ll be on the be on the computer in the blink of an eye to order one. Speaking of my husband, Shiner Bock is also one of his standards.

I’m not sure what’s getting the most publicity, the abnormally large monitor or the absence of a more suitable amber beverage …

I just bought the Samsung 24″ monitor and I am liking it a lot. I was very close to buying the one you have.

I just can’t figure out how to get the digital input to work on mine.

Very cool Jay, as Dave above, I bought the Samsung. I don’t recall seeing any that would flip like that. I’ve got envy. For the monitor also.

11 Dave Dugdale May 4, 2007 at 3:05 pm

Keith,

Are you using the digital input? How do you get that to work?

12 Athol Kay May 4, 2007 at 3:58 pm

Doesn’t it just kill you that “look a picture of a monitor” gets 12 comments, and a serious real estate post gets far less?

13 Dave Dugdale May 4, 2007 at 7:46 pm

Ah, but it is real estate related - look at all that real estate on the screen!

14 Paula Henry May 8, 2007 at 8:49 pm

Jay - I am a bit envious. I have the Gateway 21 inch and love it. I do get my share of wisecracks about my inability to see, but they just don’t understand!

15 Beth Larsen November 10, 2007 at 10:26 pm

OK, I’m jealous. That is a beautiful thing!

Jay. I need six of those completely surrounding me. :)

Hi, It looks like your new monitor is more vertical then horizonal from the pic. Am I correct in assuming that? If so, way less scrolling up and down the page which will save a lot of time.
