Unfortunately, my POS PC doesn't have sound, so I can't listen to it, but let me ask, what if you hate your job?
  • MW - life is too short to hate your job.

(PS: the full text is available in the link under the video)
  • I skipped the video and read the full text so thoughtfully provided by you. Stanford unfortunately have not given a link to email the same. So, I have printed it, scanned it and am emailing it to all my contacts and family.

Thank you for sharing this magnificent speech with us. It is really moving and highly motivating.
  • May I also suggest to MW that he can always change jobs till he finds one that he does not hate!
  • I hadn't listened to that in over a year. It is one of those things you should revisit at least annually.

Thanks, I just had another D'OH! moment. (That's where I'm like, oh yeah, it helps a lot if I RTFM! (message in this case)

I work in a high-volume convenience store and have to deal with the flotsam and jetsam of human society. I really hate it but I have no marketable skills so I'm stuck.
  • That is a great speech and definitely worth listening to!
  • Great speech, just wanted to comment and suggest that anyone who likes this speech should check the one out that was done by Jim Evans on you tube, do a search and you will see it. It's another great speech!
  • It's absolutely true. I left the employment of a large insurance company and formed my own agency. I've never worked so hard in my entire life - nor have I enjoyed myself as much as I do now.

Hard work does not have to be a negative.

If you truly love what you do and are willing to put in the hours to make it succeed you will find true happiness along the way.
  • Jobs had been impressive with what he has done with Apple. That company has been wonderful in attacking a field once thought unimpregnible. They need to continue to be innovative as competition at them is increasing.
  • Someone asked "what if you hate your job". Unfortunately, there are lots of people who do. I love what I do. If you are one of those in a job you do not enjoy, you have my sympathy. I know others in the same position and it's not much fun.
  • Wow is all I can say. I am glad I stumbled upon this video. These kinds of videos are truly an inspiration. I haven't been lucky enough to find a job I truly love yet. But, I am working on that right now. The difference it makes in your life when you aren't all stressed out about your job is well worth the effort to wait until you find a job you really do love doing.

  • I left a corporate job nearly two years ago to begin my own business. I absolutely have never enjoyed anything quite so much in my life. I am having a grea time. The key? I love what I do.
