Thompson’s Realty Agent Heather Barr Quoted in Wall Street Journal

Thompson’s Realty agent extraordinaire Heather Barr is quoted in today’s Wall Street Journal in an article titled, “Bargain-Hunters Descend, Cash in Hand”.

The article is behind the WSJ’s subscription firewall. I’d reprint it here, but the WSJ wants $475 for a month for that privilege. (you can read the article in its entirety here if you are a online subscriber or on page C10 if you get the print edition)

We’ll exercise a little “Fair Use” and put Heather’s quote here (and hope the WSJ doesn’t sick a pack of rabid attorneys on me).

“Cash investors have come right out and said, ‘We can’t make a return on our money in stocks or bonds.’” says Heather Barr, a Realtor based in Gilbert, Ariz., a Phoenix suburb. “They think Phoenix has had such sharp price declines that we’ve got to be near the bottom and real estate will be a safe place to put their money.”

Heather rocks. . .

Heather - Awesome quote and publication to be captured in! I am hearing the same thing from various corners of the population regarding the stock market.

I think it is fair to assume that many savvy investors are seeing the real opportunities in areas like Phoenix and SoCal. I have one such client heading south to purchase.( sorry SoCal not Phoenix) Let's hope it's just the savvy and not the speculative.

Jay and Heather, what a great quote for the Wall Street Journal! Congrats! I, too, have worked with increasing numbers of cash investors preferring real estate over stocks and bonds, especially for second homes. You can't beat our beautiful weather and great prices.
