On this page you’ll find information about our philosophy and culture, our commission structure and most anything else you’ll need to learn more about working with Thompson’s Realty. One quick word of advice ”“ we don’t hire just anyone with a license. We only want the best agents, and agents that will fit in with our other agents and our beliefs in client service. (See Our Manifesto for more on our philosophy.)
What Thompson’s Realty is:
We are an independent real estate brokerage covering the entire Phoenix metro area. Owned and operated by Jay and Francy Thompson, we’ve been in business for over three years. Now that isn’t a long time, but we opened at the peak (or more accurately, the trough) of the real estate market implosion in Phoenix. And we’ve grown and thrived and been profitable every single month we’ve been in operation. That’s more than many national franchises can say”¦
We have no physical office space. That’s right, there is no Thompson’s Realty “office”, at least not in the conventional sense. Some of our agents rent “office condos”, some work regularly at the Real Estate Tech Tank East co-working location, but most work out of home offices and in the field ”“ you know, the place where home buyers and sellers are.
Ask yourself this ”“ other than for the boring weekly office meeting and to pick up mail and paychecks, when was the last time you spent productive time in your current real estate office?
Yeah, I thought so.
You meet buyers at homes they want to see. You meet seller’s in the home they want to sell. That’s where the real work gets done. So why pay (and trust me, you are paying) for the fancy trappings of a real estate office?
We love technology. The ideal Thompson’s agent loves technology too. But we can teach technology if that’s not your strength. What we can’t teach you is being a good person and being ethical. That was your parent’s job. If they failed at that, you can’t work here.
We have fun. Listen, most of us have to work for a living, it’s an unfortunate fact of life. If you hate your job and/or where you work then life can be miserable. We are proud of the skills, experience and professionalism of our agents. But there is nothing wrong with having a little fun, enjoying life ”“ and work. One of the most important aspects of our culture is that all of our agents get along well. We don’t compete with each other, we help each other excel and grow. And we have fun doing it.
There is more, much more. Rather than bore you to tears by reading some tome that rivals War and Peace in length, why not pick up the phone or fire up the email and make an appointment with us. We’re happy to talk to anyone to see if we can mutually benefit by working together. And if you have any doubts about what it is like to work at Thompson’s Realty, ask one of our agents. They’ll give you the straight scoop.
