Ummel v. Little Update: Going to the Jury

IMPORTANT UPDATE: I just heard from the reporter in the story linked below. Jury is back, “Sided with the agent” is all I know for now…

The case of Marty and Vernon Ummel (home buyers) vs. Mike Little (Re/Max real estate agent) is headed to the jury.

Closing arguments were delivered today and deliberations are expected to begin tomorrow.

This is the case where the Ummels claim they paid $150,000 too much for their $1.2 million home.

The Ummels blame their agent, saying he “failed the couple by not providing them the prices of comparable dwellings before they closed escrow”, and “he misrepresented the cost of homes in the area.”

Little’s attorney said the problem is the Ummels buyer’s remorse and second guessing and that Little did not breach the standard of care.

Teri Figueroa at the San Diego North County Times continues her coverage here.

Given the potential ramifications of this case in the real estate  industry, I’m surprised there isn’t more buzz in the real estate blogiverse…
