It happens all the time around here. (LOTS of pools, plus lots of heat = lots of opportunity for disaster). I can assure you that sometime this summer, someone will leave a small child in their car -- when it's 114 outside. Happens every year. It takes about 20 minutes to kill someone in a closed up car in the summer here. Last year we had a 6 month old left in the car for 2 hours while mom went shopping. A couple of years ago someone forgot their child was in the car -- for 8 hours. The kid had a body temp of 132 degrees. Last year, an expert suggested that women put their purse in the backseat with the child. The theory is this will help Mom remember to get her kid out of the car seat. Seems some forget their child is strapped in the car seat, but they won't forget the purse... It is horrible. It happens all the time around here.
