What’s In Your Feed Reader?

I spend too much time on the Point2 Agent message boards and on their community blog, RELiberation. What can I say, it’s a sickness. But I enjoy helping the fine folks in that community, and I’ve met a lot of people through those platforms that I consider friends (ditto, of course, for this blog).

I posted something in the P2 message boards about my feed reader and had several people contact me and ask what reader I use and what blogs I had in my reader. I use Bloglines for my feed reader. Why? Probably just because it’s one of the first ones I tried and it does what I need so I looked no further. I like the fact that it’s online, so I can access from any PC with an Internet connection. (I’m open to suggestions though if someone has a reader they like…)

I currently have 143 blogs in my reader, and yep, I read them all every day. The vast majority of the blogs are real estate related, but there is a little bit of everything in there. Since I keep my feed list “public” on Bloglines, you can see the full list here. I also just put it up as a page on the blog, accessible via the link under the header. Bloglines provides a script to generate this list, but I couldn’t get it to work (yet), so it’s a manual cut/paste that’s a few days old (and already out of date).

So take a look through it, you may find some interesting blogs you weren’t aware of. And if YOU know of a blog that you think I’d like, please let me know. If you are reading this and have a blog that’s not in my reader, I want to know about it. There’s plenty of room in the feeder for more!

We always appreciate your comments! Phoenix Real Estate Guy uses two commenting systems, Facebook and LiveFyre. LiveFyre is the most robust system (and easy to use!). It allows you to login with Twitter, Facebook, Google+ LinkedIn, OpenId, LiveFyre and as a "Guest". I recommend getting a LiveFyre account, it has some great features (just click the LiveFyre button when you write your comment).

BLOG COMMENT POLICY: We respectfully ask that you use your real name (first name only is fine) and not use keywords (Why no keywords?). The only real "comment rules" are be civil -- no personal attacks -- and no advertising. (See the full comment policy here). Opinion and debate are welcome, but attack the idea, not the person.

1) Good writing, compelling content, strong opinions, humor. Any of those will pique my interest. All of those will make me a raving fan.

2) I think I've been using Bloglines about 6 months. Maybe longer. I lose track of time frequently.

3) I add 'em when I find 'em. Probably at the rate of 2 - 3 a week.

4) I don't sleep much. Seriously. I seem to function OK on 5 - 6 hours of sleep a day. I also read very fast. *No way* I could keep up with this many blogs every day without a feed reader. It's a big time saver.

Yeah, I'd say you have a problem.... well ok, since I'm on the list it's not a problem! But I have some questions (1) what does it take to pique your interest and be added to your reader? (2) how long have you been using Bloglines and (3) how frequently do you add blogs? Most importantly: (4) HTH do you have time?

I do look forward to exploring your list for new additions to my reader. I'm using the one which is built into IE7 (please don't throw things) :)

Jay,

I use Google Reader. It seems to have the same features you mention that Blogliness has. GR allows creation of folders by topic. I like that.

Like you the only reason I use GR is because that was the first one I tried out and it just stuck. Plus it does everything I want it to do.

Thanks,

Shailesh

This was a great idea. I have to admit - I "stole" a few that I did not know of before - Thanks!
