Las Sendas home

The Child Crisis Center of Arizona is holding a fundraising effort. The grand prize in a raffle is a stunning custom home in Las Sendas (pictured above)valued at $1.5 million (or a cool million in cash, your choice).

We’ve offered up a little side bar space over there to your right to help sell tickets. Just click the “ad” there (under “Raffle for Phoenix Child Crisis Center!”) and you’ll be whisked off to the site where you can buy tickets and get more info.

No, it isn’t cheap ($150/ticket, 3-pack for $400 or a 10-pack for $1,250) but what a great cause. And with only 20,000 tickets being sold you’re odds of winning one of 100+ prizes are 1 in 200. You might win a house, you will make a difference in a child’s life.

The home is magnificent. Las Sendas is a gorgeous Master Planned Community in northeast Mesa with a world-class Robert Trent Jones golf course, mountain views and amenities galore. Homes range in list price from the $170K to $5M, so there is something there for nearly everyone. Look for a “drive by video” soon!

Full disclosure: The marketing company that asked me to advertise the drawing is offering me a $10 payment for every ticket sold by clicking through from here. I will donate all of that back directly to the Child Crisis Center.

We have a similar fundraiser here and it is a good way to raise funds for a great cause. It is now the largest single fundraiser in Eastern Canada and has been getting larger with more prizes each year. I wish I could win the grand prize one of these years!

Hi Jay,

Great promotion for a great cause. We me have had some home builders in and around Denver offer up “free” houses in the past but only as shameless self promotion. We have yet to see a great cause like the Child Crisis Center host. Hopefully, this will be lucrative for everyone involved and catch on. Come to think of it we have a lot of high end luxury home inventory in Denver– Maybe this could double as an economic stimulus plan…

This is a great cause. In times like these it’s great to see people still have concern for others.

A family in the Washington DC area recently did something similar to this. However, the proceeds did not go to charity. This looks like a great event with a good cause. I am anxious to see how much money they raise!

Oh wow, 1 in 200 is really nice odds for winning a million dollar home AND a great way to help a child. I don’t know I could leave my area-even though that home is beyond amazing-so that is super great they are offering the cash out option as well.

It’s 20,000 to 1 to win the million dollar property. I wonder what the other prizes are?

When is the raffle? Though I love my area, it is very tempting to see if I might win a summer home; since it is summer nearly year round there, I could get a lot of use out of it, eh!

I came by to see the drive by video-is that still in the works or located somewhere else? It looks like such an amazing home; I am curious to see how beautiful the inside is.

I might have missed it in the comments, but have they had the home drawing yet? I hope the Child Crisis Center of Arizona was able to raise a lot of funding with the ticket sales!

I’m impressed by how many charities and non-profit organisations in the US have successfully turned to property raffles as a source of fundraising in recent months. In the current environment, this makes perfect sense for the homeowners as much as for the players, who enter knowing they are supporting a good cause. We see similar house raffles in Australia (RSL, Mater) however the UK hasn’t witnessed the same types of partnerships. Of course, the legal environment differs from one country to another, however in principle this should be something that could be replicated on this side of the pond as well. We feature house competitions and property raffles from around the world, however the majority in Europe tend to be run for profit (or with a portion of funds donated to charity).

I think house raffles are a great idea both for homeowners and for nonprofits.

I read about this charity that came back into profit thanks to property raffles: http://winahouseraffles.com/blog/organizing-hou....

In most states is it legal if done with a registered nonprofit?
