Very cool WordPress plugin - Photo Dropper. Easily search through Creative Commons Flickr photos and post directly into blogs.

Thanks Joel (via Twitter!)

TONS of photos, even with the “commercial blog” field checked (which it really should be with a real estate agent’s blog, IMHO)

Added: Please see Keiron’s great post about commercial blogs and copyright.

Looks like a pretty sweet plugin Jay - are the pictures royalty free?

My prayers were answered with this plugin, I was about to write something similar myself (or pay someone to write it!!). I posted about it earlier this week!

> are the pictures royalty free?

Indeed they are Jayson! It only searches Flickr for photos that the photographers have labeled as “creative commons”. Free with the link attribution.

@Keiron it’s a fabulous plugin!

Thanks for the share, Jay.

This will be great for the photographers, too.

Just be careful of the disclaimer - I’ve posted about it here:

Be careful using Photo Dropper

Keiron - agreed, and thanks for pointing that out. I put a sentence at the bottom of the post about commercial blogs. I’m going to go in and bold it and link to your post because it is *really* important. And more later on real estate blogs in particular being “commercial” blogs.

Nice lightening.

Wow, this is great. Thanks for the heads up.

Definitely worth doing in my opinion!

Hi Jay,

Thanks for the tip. I would like your opinion on one issue in using this plugin however. That is, with this plugin you are effectively including a link to photos which are hosted elsewhere. Is it not conceivable then, that the original picture could be removed or edited etc.

If my understanding above is correct, would you consider this a possible problem or am I just picking at straws?

11 The Phoenix Real Estate Guy February 25, 2008 at 3:33 pm

Carl - interesting question. I hadn’t thought of that. The plugin pulls in a specific URL for teh photo from Flickr. I *think* (but am not positive) that there is no way to change the photo once that URL has been generated.

Even if that’s the case, it begs the question of what happens if the photographer deletes the photo on Flickr…

12 Keiron February 26, 2008 at 3:49 am

My gut reaction is that you’re probably right - once the photo has the URL it is unlikely it could be changed for another photo - but I see no reason why it couldn’t be removed by the photographer!

Very nice, will have to check that out for my new blog, which is just launching today.
